First up, Donegal is probably the most beautiful county in Ireland, and Dunfanaghy is one of its postcard towns...and don't get me started on the surrounding countryside...stunning at every turn.
So where better to base yourself than in this old world, yet modern guesthouse that ticked all the boxes for us. It's a large house with beautiful panoramic views; and within, there's plenty of room to find your own quiet spot. The breakfast is amazing in terms of presentation, variety, quality, etc. The complimentary homemade biscuits in the bedroom were a class touch too. So, thank you Susan for the memorable stay...we will be back!
We have just spent a very relaxing night at the Mill. We were up in Donegal to visit an elderly parent and booked the Mill because of all the positive recommendations and we were not disappointed.
We received a very warm welcome from Susan and were made to feel at home straight away . Our room was spotless with lovely views from the windows and very comfortable. There are a number of private areas within the lounge where we could sit and read with views of the lake if we wished.
The breakfast was delicious with a large number of dishes cooked to order on offer.
We were extremely happy with our stay and look forward to our next trip .
Beautiful room with a view over the lake. Complimentary wine in the room and a nespresso machine. Breakfast was excellent. I went for smoked haddock and poached egg whereas my husband stuck with full Irish - both were superb. The items on the buffet were varied
The view from the upstairs corner room overlooks the lake and rolling farm fields---beautiful! The room was great as were the breakfasts. Though the restaurant was not open on the days we were there, it is highly rated.
The Mill is a large and charming old B and B that appears to have been a family home for generations. The home is filled with lovely old wood wood and furnishings and has many lovely paintings that were done by the hosts grandfather who was obviously a very accomplished artist. The rooms over look New Lake which is a very serene view and the rooms are very quiet. We did not stay in the Studio-but you might want to think about staying in that room which is immense -altho without a view- but truly unique- You will never in Ireland or for that matter in your life get a better breakfast than at the Mill- Truly remarkable- We did not have dinner at the Mill because we ate so much for breakfast but I imagine it is also very good. We really enjoyed staying at the Mill and enjoyed the town of Dunfanagy as well. We really liked the locally woven tweeds on the bed which was so fitting for such traditional home. Very comfortable and a wonderful experience staying here.
