I stayed here with my partner last month, we had booked for four nights but ended up walking out after just one night, which meant loosing our money.
I had booked many weeks prior to our arrival and had requested a quiet room and yet they put us into a tiny drab cell like room right on the busy main road.
The traffic noise was horrendous and never let up all night long.
There was never anyone at the reception, the staff were rude to me and one time walked off mid conversation!
They have a safe in the room, but I am a photographer and it was to small to store all my equipment. They refused to entertain any other storage and so I had to take my valuable to the beach with me.
In the room, the shower was cold, not all the lights were working, there were gaps around the doors and windows letting in more noise/ fumes /insects etc.
I had paid extra to have the breakfast included with the room and all I got was two slices of underdone stale tasting white toast. The whole dining area was covered in flies! The waiter never wiped our table after the previous customers, leaving half empty jam pots and crumbs to attract even more flies.
Some of the cleaning ladies were friendly but apart from that the whole place had a depressive seedy and dismal air about it.
Its a 10 minute walk to the beach across scrubby land, which is not lit at night.
This was meant to be the relaxing part of a longer tour we were doing around India but it was proving to be anything but and that is why we walked out.
We found ourselves a basic beach shack in a beautiful location right on the beach, for a similar price.
So, why on earth would anyone stay in the Nifa (The "NIF NAF" as we called it) when they can pay the same to stay on the beach is beyond me.
I don't know what of if the management may say in response, or if they will try to discredit me, but this is 100% my truth and experience. I will leave you to make your own mind up, but, if I were you I would stay on the beach instead.
Me and my friend stayed here from 24th December till 29th December.
1. The room is big. AC works fine. Toilet is clean. You get both hot and cold water. Ample space in the cupboard to keep your things.
2. The staff is very friendly. The cook, the waiters and the cleaners are trust worthy.
3. Did not taste the food here so, no comments.
4. The pool is quite small. Also, why use a pool when in Goa !!
5. The owners are very friendly and make sure to pick their brains for beaches and places to visit.
We had booked for Thomas Beach Guest house which I am assuming was the same owners. After trying to find the Thomas Resort for 20 minutes we finally called the resort and were told we had to come to Nifa. Upon arrival we were told that the other resort had plumbing problems so we had to stay here. Although we understand plumbing problems is not within the owners control, we were disappointed to have received no warning of this and instead had to stay in a place we had not anticipated after driving around completely lost. We had wanted to be closer to the water like we had booked but instead ended up on a more main road which was quite loud at night. We booked a non-AC room so we expected it to be warm but it felt like it was 100 degrees because of its location at the top of the building. It felt like a 10 degree drop just to step into the hall. The staff was really pleasant and we were pleased with that, as well as the pool area being quite nice. The shower got warm and the cleanliness was reasonable. Unfortunately the WiFi only seemed to work if you were close to the lobby which was unfortunate for us all the way at the top! Overall, we were just disappointed that we had not received an email letting us know of the change.
Despite this place is near to beaches with a view of beach from a couple of rooms, don;t think it like a resort. First of all, finding this place was in itself a big trouble if you are not with some guide. 2nd, there is no room service and you have to come to restaurent in ground for food (as informed).
No lifts, no phone service, broken doors & compact rooms. I decided not to stay here even on the night i logged in to Goa. As my friend booked the room for me in the evening there, i didn;t liked the place and decided to check out.
First, the owner mentioned that credit card is not accepted for the payment, but when i said, i don;t have cash at all, he decided to plug in the card machine...Moreover he didn;t have enough courage to ask - "What is that i dont like and why i am checking out in the middle of night", he rather charged me additional 3 percent credit card charges.. Wow..
Far from main city markets and commercial beaches, this is the not a place for people like me to even see in future....
We stayed here as couple in first week of Oct 2014 which was a long weekend. All Goa was full packed and although generally I prefer to live in Candolim each and every time, this time decided to live in Morjim majorly because even the silliest hotel in Calangute, Candolim and Baga area got crazy expensive.
Anyways, Nifa was perfect in terms of its location near the Morjim and Ashwem beach. Actually all the rooms on the back side of the hotel (which is also pool facing side) apart from ground floor could also have a sea view as well. Although view is not very clear but it is satisfactory enough.
Overall, room were clean with comfortable mattress and clean sheets. You can always ask for cleaner sheets as soon as you enter the room. As soon you enter the room, you could see the bath towels decorated and kept over your bed.
AC was in working condition with non working remote. I gave a complaint to reception, a boy took the remote but he never came back with the fixed one.
We have a 22" LCD tv with basic cable connection. Remote was working fine.
Bathroom is small but clean. The good thing is that they had anti slip tiles fitted on the floor. Pot and basic were clear. However soap and utility stands were broken so we had some trouble there. We had both hot and cold water available the whole day which was the good thing.
Cupboard in the room was sufficient and it had digital locker too. However you have to pay extra to use the locker.
Overall, for the cost, this room is excellent.
And most of all, hotel owner and two very pleasent girls on reception at day time were courteous and helpful.
Hotel restaurant is small and it is just beside the pool area is back. The food tastes good - not sure about non veg as I am a vegetarian.
I visited in first week October when it was just beginning of the season and none of the hotels in Goa were prepared for such a huge rush due to long weekend, so for this reason, we had some minor issues which can be neglected.
Overall for the cost, this hotel is excellent.
