Ohtel Cabogata 2nd visit 19th - 26th September 2019 - fantastic.
This was our second visit to the Ohtels Cabogata El Toyo and we were not disappointed. If you are looking for a place to chill out and relax then this is the place to come and that was our main reason for returning. It is an area that does not tick all the boxes for some people but if you are wanting to relax then it is ideal here.
On arrival we were met by Elizabeth the receptionist who dealt with our check-in in a professional and polite manner. We were allocated a suite on the 1st floor 1105 which we had booked for and it was the same room that we had stayed in before the previous year 2018. The suite being on the 1st floor meant we did not need to use the lift to get to our room so our room was easy to access. The suite was made up of a lounge area, bedroom and large bathroom with walk-in shower plus bath with overhead shower and his/her sinks. There was ample wardrobe space in the bedroom and the lounge so l did not need to live out of my suitcase. The balcony was very large and it was a shame that there were no sun lounger on it which would have been ideal for us. Maybe management could place sun loungers on the balcony in the future? Our room location was also facing the pool area however beware as this can be very noisy because all of the entertainment during the day and night takes place here . If your room is located directly above the stage area then it will be very noisy especially at night when the hotel has various acts performing from 10.30 pm onwards. If you request a room overlooking the golf course as these rooms are better suited for anyone wanting peace and quiet.
We had booked the All Inclusive option because the area of El Toyo does not have a lot of restaurants or bars as it is a quiet area of Almeria. The all inclusive option allowed 3 meals a day and unlimited drinks throughout the day including snacks. We would say that the food is in our opinion is poor but there is a choice of food available but it is more suited to the spanish rather than english cuisine. We did venture out of the Ohtels Cabogata and ate at a few restaurants when we felt we needed to eat more nutrition. The few restaurants in El Toyo are reasonably priced although the menus are in spanish. We eat at the Chinese and the Italian restaurants.
Throughout the week we sunbathed at the pool area and we joined in with the entertainment which was all day - darts, cuisine and bingo. There was no water aerobics nor water games as before last year but that was probably due to the end of the season. The pool area was surrounded by sun loungers on terraces with fixed umbrella and there was a good choice of where to sunbathe.
Overall the staff work hard to keep the customers happy. The Ohtels Cabogata is very clean throughout. The bar staff are efficient and always on hand. There is a lot of Spanish that use this hotel and they were very noisy and loud when we stayed here. We thought it was ignorant of them to play their own music at the pool as the hotel entertainment played music throughout the day. Be warned.
We had a great holiday and we were able to rest and sunbathe for a week. We will return next year and we are looking forward to staying again at the Ohtels Cabogata El Toyo.
We visited this hotel on 16th September for 10 nights and were not disappointed. Our room overlooked the pool and was very clean and spacious. The pool area again was very clean, a good sized pool and best of all no problem getting a sun lounger, didn't need to worry about getting up early to get one as the pool doesn't actually open until 10am. Music played throughout the day (not too loud) and the animation team did darts, pool etc in the morning at 11 and then again in the afternoon at 5. The restaurant was very good offering a wide variety of food for all meals, breakfast was continental and cooked with a chef doing eggs anyway you like, lunch a wide variety of salad, veg, meats, hot and cold selections, dinner the same a chef cooking fresh meat and fish, plenty of pasta, pizza, salad veg etc not exactly English but I thought it was very good and there was definitely something for everyone. The staff overall are excellent and all work extremely hard. There is not much to do outside of the hotel, it is a very quiet area, however we walked along the seafront every evening and called into one of the 3 or 4 bars for a drink before returning to the hotel for the nightly entertainment which was ok overall but didn't start until 10.30. We went on this holiday to chill out and that's exactly what we did, we have no complaints about anything, we had a great holiday and will definitely visit this hotel again.
Just arrived back from ohtel cabogata.
The hotel was fine, just needs a bit of sprucing up in places. We had a nice room which overlooked the pool( which is noisy at nighttime because it also overlooks the entertainment area also, but that didn’t really bother us.
The food was good
The staff were friendly and worked tirelessly all day.
Plenty of available sun lounger s.
My biggest gripe was if you wanted to use the indoor pool you had to pay for it, contrary to the brochure advertising indoor & outdoor pool.
The area of El Toyo is very quiet, with very few bars or shops to wander around, I think we did them all twice round in the space of a week.
Overall it depends what sort of holiday you want, my husband and I are sixty and don’t want nightclubs, but like somewhere to look round and this is definitely not the place. Wouldn’t go back there, not because of the hotel, just the area.
Just back from a short week stay at Ohtel Cabogata. I say short because a week just wasn't long enough I have never had a more relaxing week on holiday. The whole holiday was faultless, from the ease of checking in to the week relaxing by the pool I loved very day of it.
Like most guests we were all inclusive and given a wristband on check in with a bar-code on it, throughout the week this was used a lot and in my view well worth the money. If wanted to you could eat and drink endless from 10 am till 12 midnight. Very surprised that premium drinks were offered previous experience has been Spanish branded drinks and pay extra for the British premium drinks. The people who work behind the bar work very hard to keep the drinks flowing and do a great job, Eduin, Rebecca and Diego are a credit to the hotel.
Food wise was a great choice both at dinner and lunch, some days I struggled to choose what to have as there was that much to choose from. Show cooking doing chicken, kebabs, wraps, steaks and loads of fish. Decent medallion bacon for breakfast and always a choice of what eggs you preferred.
Room, we had a corner room overlooking the mountains and golf course with a great view. It was like a suite and always cleaned to a high standard.
Pool was good always found a sun lounger despite the hotel been very busy. Pool bar serving snacks and drinks from 10am till 8pm.
In summary very good hotel and staff were great would return tomorrow if I had the holidays.
I was a bit worried about this holiday after reading the negative reviews but my husband and myself had a lovely relaxed holiday. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the airport which was a great start. Yes it's in a very quiet area with not much about but as we went all-inclusive there isn't much point paying all that money then going eating and drinking out of the hotel. When we first arrived booking in was very easy and quick, we were given our card keys and used the lift up to the first floor , we were in room 2103 . The room was lovely and clean with 2 double beds pushed together , there was also a table , a unit with a fridge inside (great for keeping drinks cold) , a table and chair, plenty of room to put clothes in a large fitted wardrobe and a very clean bathroom with double sink, toilet and a shower over a bath . Outside we had a balcony with a table, 2 chairs and a hanger for towels and swim wear to dry. We over looked the golf course and could see the mountains in the distance. The room was cleaned everyday and some days I would go back to bed after breakfast leaving the do not disturb sign on the door, no matter what time I got up and then returned to the room the beds had been made which to be honest I wasn't expecting . There is also a safe in the room that cost just under €40 for 10 days which we did pay for. I am a very fussy eater and there wasn't one day that I didn't find something to eat in the restraunt , some days there was a lot of fish and sea food which I don't eat but I still managed to find something. The only thing that I would recommend is that fried eggs would be better to make a few and let people help themselves to them as some days I had sat on my own eating breakfast as my husband was waiting for eggs and by the time he got back I had finished also please label all the food as there were some dishes I didn't try that looked good but I didn't want to take the chance of them having fish or seafood in them. The staff in the restraunt worked so hard and where so friendly , they also appreciate it when you try to give your room number in Spanish which isn't very hard to do. One thing I really liked was that the pool area didn't open untill 10 am which gave everyone a chance of picking were they wanted to sit as towels are NOT to be put on chairs before this ( I actually witnessed a Spanish family getting told off for leaving 6 seats with towels on then disappearing for much of the day, they never did it again) . There was always plenty of sunloungers available even though the hotel seemed full and the pool is big enough never to be overcrowded . The pool bar staff where always very fast to serve drinks and snacks like burgers, hotdogs , crisp and fries . The entertainment staff worked very hard to keep everyone entertained through the day, not just the children but adults as well with bingo, aquagym and water polo. There was music playing all day round the pool but unlike some guests who did moan about it, it didn't bother us, they tried to play a good mixture of songs in Spanish and English. There are a few rooms down stairs in the hotel one was for reading in quiet and another was for older children with a pool table, arcade games and a football game. If you do want to get out for a while there is a bus stop just up the road near the roundabout that for €1.05 each way, would take you into Almeria, it takes 40 minutes and where you get off is also where you get back on. The evening entertainment was always good, it would start at 10 p.m for the children then at 10:30 ish there would be something for all the guests to enjoy untill 11:30 . I would just say that in the evening there never seemed to be enough tables and chairs outside , so I would definitely think about getting some more . All the staff are a total credit to this hotel, they are friendly , hard-working and always have a smile on there faces they just can't do enough for you . I would just like to give a special mention to Rebecca behind the bar who makes the best cappuccino and was the only one who always gave me my coke light in a glass at night , as I don't really drink alcohol and all the others must have thought I was a child and gave me a plastic cup when my husband went to the bar. Would we return here ? Yes definitely without a doubt .
