The title sums it up but really an excellent choice. The room / suite was large with separate sitting area and separate dressing area. We had a south facing room. It was very clean and had all the amenities we could have wanted. Very comfortable and amazing views. Ok it is about 4 miles outside central Douglas but do NOT let that put you off. It was an easy drive - we were there within 10 mins of driving off the ferry (and that was in the dark). The accommodation is great - there is a living room available to use and the host went out of her way to ensure we were well looked after and had everything we needed. After waking up and taking in the views, we had breakfast which had to be pre-booked the night before but had a great choice and served in a comfortable dining room. We were given advice ahead of our day trips in a polite, non-intrusive way. We went with family who had an equally good room albeit theirs was east facing. I had originally booked a well known hotel in Douglas centre but cancelled that on finding this and am so glad I did that. The host even checked dietary requirements before we arrived and provided simple, easy to follow directions. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the break and Southfields B&B just added to our enjoyment. I have described it as mid-range in my review but only because of the price as everything about it feels luxurious. I rarely give 5 stars but this is worth it. Thanks.
Wonderful stay at Southfields. Jill was so welcoming and helpful. The room was luxurious and spotlessly clean. Great location, great breakfasts and a lovely base from which to explore the island. I would recommend Southfields to anyone looking for a top quality place to stay in stunning location.
I stayed for 4 nights in September 2018. Jill very kindly emailed me the instructions on how to find Southfields 5 days before my arrival.
I arrived at Southfields without my luggage (which was lost in transit due to storm Bronagh) and Jill made me so welcome. She really is a diamond who goes the extra mile to ensure that her guests feel valued and at home. Jill gave me the essentials (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo) so that I went out on the Saturday looking presentable, albeit in yesterday’s clothes.
Jill has warmth and is extremely engaging and personable.
Southfields is in a lovely peaceful location. It is perfect for relaxing and stargazing (dark sky).
My room was spacious and well equipped with quality bed linen and accessories. There’s even a fridge on the landing with fresh milk and space to chill the beer/wine.
Breakfast is a real treat. Freshly cooked and yummy.
I loved my 4 days at Southfields and will return.
You could cut the silence, but still be on the beach in 15 minutes. The secluded spot is a delight, with magnificent views. Jill, the host, is an absolute delight, very solicitous, very bubbly, very chatty, without being intrusive. The premises are superb - and spotless. Our Junior Suite was extremely comfortable with ample cupboard space (how often does that happen?), large bathroom (with large shower), coffee maker, very roomy bedroom/lounge with settee for tv watching. There is an extensive guests' lounge, too, which, unfortunately, we didn't have time to use. Breakfast was a pleasure in the large dining room, with well-stocked breakfast bar and extremely prompt serving of perfectly prepared breakfasts. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Southfields to anyone who wishes to enjoy the Isle of Man.
Couldn't better this accommodation. Our hostess was welcoming, friendly, informative, and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were brilliant with loads of choices and plenty of refills for tea and coffee! Our room, with en-suite bathroom, was spotlessly clean ( as was the entire house) and very comfortable. The tea/coffee provision was handy, and the guest information file provided by our hostess was more than useful. We enjoyed our stay on the island and would definitely return to Southfields if we visit again. Full marks and a gold star to Jill!!!
