we arrived somewhat early, well very early actually well before we should have arrived. we were expecting to be told to clear of for an hour or so, but the very nice lady there said she would get things sorted and thats exactly what happened, the caravan on our pitch was moved, the area cleaned and made ready in what i would assume was record time. and a nice pitch it was to with excellant views over the area looking towards Dodman point and mevagissey and Heligan
The whole site is a place i would not call manicured but more rustic and natural, something we prefer. and plenty of room between each pitch. and the ability to be well spaced out if required.
All the usual facilities are there and while not new and trendy they are functional and usuable and well fit for the job.
The owners did not hassle us in any way during the stay but where there if required, again thats how we like it, to know they are there if there is a problem but not to feel as if they are watching every move you make
It is a very dog friendly site with many guests having 4 legged friends and plenty of room for them to run about.
The only slight downside is the road alongside can be quite busy and you do get a bit of road noise, but the stunning views more than compensate for that
Glad we managed to find this last minute. We holidayed with 2 teens that were adamant their camping days were over.
They didn’t moan about the showers or the washing up facilities and actually used the table tennis in the games room (even if they did choose to mainly relax around the tent when on the campsite!) So they were very happy as the area that Penhale campsite is situated is absolutely fantastic. Polkerris beach is lovely and within walking distance. So many great places nearby that there is no reason to be bored here.
Gorgeous fresh dahlias in the loos give it that special touch and I’m quite sure nothing would be a problem for the campsite managers. The view is perfect on the morning with coffee and the sky is majestic at night. What a lovely holiday we had.
Forget about ‘a room with a view’ and set up your tent or caravan at Penhale Camping and Caravan park where you will enjoy a constantly open window onto spectacular views across Gribbin Head and the sea. Penhale is a quiet hill top paradise situated on a Site of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The prices are reasonable and facilities good. The service pitches are well designed and even when full this campsite never feels overcrowded. It is in walking distance from Fowey, along the Saints Way. And for those who enjoy walking there is the coast path round Gribbin Head, and dozens of good walks in the area through open farmland, woodland, the river or along the coast. The Fowey estuary is spectacular, and one of our favourite places is Lerryn, near Lostwithiel. The small harbour of Polkerris is very near by, and has a good beach and pub and restaurant. Menabilly, where Daphne du Maurier lived, is just down the road, and the beach below Menabilly is one of the best of quiet unspoiled beaches in Cornwall with good swimming. You are guaranteed to enjoy this campsite.
Plenty of pitches with a sea view or a view of the farm and fields. Water and hook up available. Toilets and showers very clean and free wifi. Its just over a mile to walk to the beach from here. Dispite the weather we had a lovely stay.
We stayed here for a week in August this year in one of the static caravans. We have 3 small children and we had a fantastic time. We will be booking again for next summer. The site is small and friendly, pleanty of room for the kids to play. A short walk to polkerris beach which is great for kids, small, shallow/sloping/shelterd swimming. Also watersports for older kids.
We felt very welcomed at the site, by both the owners. We just did our own thing, they were helpful when we asked directions etc, the man even let my youngest sit on his lawnmower...which made his holiday!.
great base to visit/explore cornwall. We happened to be there for the Foye regatta - which was great.
Highly recommend this site.
