Despite Covid-19 we were thrilled to be able to go on holiday to Long Chimney where we 6 stayed in the 3 bed, all en-suite cottage The Stables with our son, daughter-in-law & two grandsons aged 15 & 12. It’s very well equipped, clean & comfortable. It’s very much in the countryside so don’t expect super fast broadband & the TV signal in the master bedroom was sometimes non existent but that’s not what we go on holiday for, so it didn’t bother us! The TV in the large lounge worked fine the whole time.
The weather was fabulous for our week at the beginning of August & we were we’re very grateful for the electric fan which kept the air moving nicely in the cottage. Outside there is a large rotary washing line for washing & towels, very handy after visits to the beautiful pool (a bit cold for me) which our grandsons loved. They also loved the Games Room & visited at least once per day.
The garden is secure, enclosed enough to keep our dogs safe & has a lovely table, 6 chairs, parasol, amazing rocking sun loungers & when the evening cooled, a snazzy patio heater too!
Whenever I had any issues (where are the dog bowls, towels, how do we sort the Internet, the patio heater has run out of gas...) I emailed the owner Adrian & within a few hours, always the same day, all issues were sorted.
Location-wise, whilst it is in beautiful countryside, it’s centrally located (plenty of parking) for travel to Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and many other places a short drive away.
Would happily return!

We stayed the The Stable. Lovely spacious open plan cottage that is great for families or couples as all of the bedrooms have their own en-suite. High spec and very clean with comfortable beds and sofa. Kids loved the games room and it kept them occupied when it was stormy. We particularly enjoyed the lovely glass chess and draughts set in the cottage. Coffee maker, wine fridge, recliner chair and log burner- perfect. Would love to come back in the sunshine to enjoy the pool. Fab location for walks and lots of villages nearby. Nothing to fault it except we didn’t have long enough. Thanks for a great stay.
