Little disappoint for the hotel..they give us a room where you can here everything from the other room..after i make complain about the room they give somewhere outside of hotel, some annex of hotel..more good conditions very quiet perfect for relaxing..
Cute hotel in a wonderful place, however the sound isolation is as good as nil (at least in maisonette rooms). The stairs and the second floor in the maisonette rooms must have been constructed not solidly enough, and we felt our neighbors stumping-jumping as if doing it in our own room. That’s why I had to wake as early as they (their children) did although wanted to sleep more :( The breakfast is poor. And you can’t also have a supper there. The host recommended us a nearby tavern where we had some takeaway, however why for the hotel management not to organize a delivery on demand from 2-3 nearby taverns for the guests? Well, because it’s a business of Cyprus-style (if it goes satisfactory why to improve anything taking efforts!)
This is a family hotel running in the picteresque village of Platres for many decades. It has conserved its retro style, reflected in common areas and rooms as well. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean (I suggest the suite;minor difference in price but very comfortable). Rooms are rather quiet, but because of the wooden flooring, some noise might occur. It has a nice view over the village and surrounding mountains (it's situated in the village entrance, therefore you need a 5-7 minute walk to village "center). The breakfast is very good and staff is very friendly and accomodating.
So glad we found this place! New Helvetia has its own unique soul. Our family enjoyed the classic interior mostly made of wood, room with a mountain view, bath tube with endless hot water, very friendly owner family and the hotel’s location - close to all the waterfalls, Platres cafes and restaurants, amazing forests and role park.
2 weeks ago, we spent one night in this small quiet 3star hotel in Platres and it was a memorable one!
The room we got was on 2 levels, it was clean and had all we needed. Quilt covers, wooden floor and even a box of kleenex, were added benefits for a 3star!
The breakfast, was basic but very adequate and it was so nice that the young guy that was taking care of the place that weekend, served it on the veranda for us.
Heating and hot water were on for all the times needed.
Well recommended for a small ..escape in the forest...
