Very hard to find. Taxi took over half an hour to find it and took more than that on our return . Villa had changed its name from Villa Por Dr Sol to Villa Mimosa and there is another Villa Mimosa in the area. Nice villa but very very hard beds. Nice pool but no hand rail to enable you to get down the steps. Very quiet area but within walking distance of the beach and some very good eating places-especially the Chinese restaurant..This villa is not really suitable for children or the disabled.

Vila Mimosa offers a week long detox holiday in which all your meals are taken care of, daily activities are planned, but it is also the perfect place to relax by the (heated) pool or fire place with a book, to sweat it out in the beautiful saunas, and to completely unwind with the range of wellness options. It’s really a place where you can go to improve your own wellbeing. At the same time, this is a very down to earth place, with lovely staff and where nothing is mandatory. You won’t find an airy fairy atmosphere here.

I’ve been traveling to this hotel since May 2013. It’s one of my yearly holidays. Why this hotel? Well, first of all I love healthy food and having a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. The first time I came here I had some bad habits, like drinking too much coffee and having too much attention for work in my daily life. The employees at this hotel are experts on several aspects of having a vital and sustainable lifestyle. I learned every time a little bit more and it even helped to grow on several parts of my life.

Secondly, this experts, the ‘Vila Mimosa Team, are really kind and enthusiastic too. In my opinion they are really inspiring and bringing a lot of energy in this Vila. They know what they are doing and they know how to do it on a real enthusiastic, pure and authentic way.

Third, the Vila by itself is really beautiful. Have you ever found a place in another place in the world where you feel ‘I am home’? Well I do! It’s here. Every time I arrive my smile goes from ear to ear. And if I am honest, I tried to bring some of the ideas over in my own house. It has a lot of space, light colors, delicious spa ingredients in the bathrooms and at the ‘spa centre’ (products from Rituals), a nice balcony and roof terrace, beautifully-dressed dining tables, little sweet candles, a lovely sofa to soothe, amazing tropical plants by the pool and even a place where I can sit down and do properly some emails. They’ve got a pc in another room. I like to write. I’ve even studied from my exams in January 2014 here.

Fourth, there’s a program of doing walking, stretching, body exercises, aqua gym, yoga, mindfulness and sound scale sessions. For every one there’s something to like! Nothing is obligated, everything fits just in the way you are. They’ve even a team of specialists in massages, facial care, pedicure, manicure, osteopathic and nutrition. Lucky for me, because I like all of them!

At last, it’s my holiday. I don’t have to cook, I don’t have to clean. I feel really lucky I found a place where I can say the service can be rated with “Excellent Performance”.

Read about this place and wasn't sure if it would be good . Have been somewhere similar in Spain but this place is advertised more in the Netherlands so geared up more to the Dutch . They advertise that everyone speaks English so we thought we would try it out and they certainly do all speak English.
Everyone was very friendly and although there were 4 English guests staying when we were there all the Dutch spoke in English at meal times and at the keep fit classes and walks so we never felt left out.
Lovely bunch of guests whilst we were there and all lovely staff too-everyone very friendly and helpful including cleaners, cooks, masseurs, fitness instructors and admin staff- they total 16 in number and are like one big family and nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms were spacious and beds comfortable with ample size ensuite bathrooms with showers.
All rooms have an area outside with pegs to hang out a little bit of washing daily.
The hotel is not large- maximum 18 guests which helps to foster a community feeling with everyone joining in.
However you can do as much as you like or as little and just chill by the lovely pool-plenty of sun beds for all!
Small beauty spa area with 3 beauty rooms with lots of treatments on offer and downstairs a sauna, infrared and steam room.
We ate juice in the morning ( 10am) and lunch (1pm)with a spoon, and had a juice by the pool at 4pm and soup ( 2 bowls) at 7pm in the evening- we all sat down together and the table is laid out beautifully. Even if you are not eating a lot of effort is still made to make it an occasion.People on mildfast also have a small dish of food served individually at the table after their juice but everyone just has soup in the evening.
Lots of flavoured water available all day and an amazing selection of herbal teas which I usually hate but actually managed to find some that were okay.

Walks are at 8.15 am, after they have checked your blood pressure and after a 15 min stretching session.
Body shape is a 40 min class in 2 separate groups usually -at 11.40 and then 12.20.
2 groups are arranged in the pool for aqua gym at 3 and 3.30 and then in the evening 1 bigger group of either Pilates or Yoga or similar at 6pm.
You don't have to do any of these exercises at all-no pressure.
The day passes so quickly in between the classes and chatting by the pool .

A trip to Albufeira is also arranged on one day ( is only 10mins away) and Loule another day .
Bike rides can also be arranged if you wish.
We really enjoyed our stay- had lovely weather and there were different walks everyday -some onto the beach which is 15 minutes away.
Some people just went to the beach everyday.

Dress code is very casual and most of the time is spent in gym clothes.
The Thursday night is usually the last night so a dinner is arranged at a restaurant on the beach.( no extra charge unless you add a starter or alcohol) -people wear slightly smarter clothes for this.
Obviously we were there in September but warmer clothing would be needed at other times of the year. It was a little chillier in the evening and some mornings needed a thin cardy for the walk.
Apparently the swimming classes take place all year round in their heated pool!

Don't know why We have given such an in depth review because We don't want the place becoming too busy as we won't be able to go back which we have every intention of doing . (Great place to loose 8k and 3.9 k in 11 days too !!)
