Probably the nicest youth hostel that I have ever been to. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean and we had an en-suite bathroom. Staff were very friendly. The location is great right next to the Aasee. Would highly recommend if visiting Muenster and on a budget.
I stayed at the JGH Aasee for 6 nights on a student programme in a 2-bed room. Most people at the hostel appear to be student groups or groups of adults just staying for a short time. Rooms were very clean and well-maintained; they were also cleaned everyday. Beds were comfortable enough and the rooms were comfortably heated (I get cold very easily!). Bathroom was very clean, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure.
In Sept 2014, we again stayed at the JGH Aasee Muenster; our first time to stay at this hostel was Sept 2011. We request the "comfort room" which is for adults and in a separate wing offering total quietness. We have found the "comfort rooms" similar to a hotel room with ensuite bath, TV, comfortable beds, secure parking, free wi-fi, and an on-site laundry facility. The hostel includes a substantial breakfast, and afternoon meals also are offered at reasonable prices. It is ideally located across the street from the beautiful Aasee Lake which we enjoy the walkable pedestrian/bike path around it. The historic town center is easily accessible by park-like walkable pathways. Muenster is a college town and the energy and bicyclists prevail!
I stayed in this hostel as an participant of an youth exchange in Münster. The instalations are good and the hostel is big and have a lot of rooms. Each room was equiped with 2 single beds and one two beds bunk and a bathroom. Each person have access to a key that gives access to a locker inside the room, and to all the doors to their room. Corridors are also protected with extra doors that can only be open by persons who have the key for rooms in the same corridor. People here where very nice and friendly, except one of the recepcionists during the night shift (after 0am).
Besides being organized for an exchange of 64 people, the food served was really good, with optional dishes (included good vegetarian options), lots of vegetables, desserts and salads.
The main lobby have plenty of tables to sit and relax and there is the possibility of buying driks and play games during the day. A really nice place that I would recommend.
The hostel is placed near a nice lake and pretty close to the city center (about 15 mins) which makes it a good location. Many rooms have beautiful views over the lake.
Stayed here as part of a large group. Have to say this was absolute top of the range for a hostel.
The only bad point was on arrival, they did not recognise my name on booking (some mix-up). But otherwise very good indeed.
I stayed in a shared room. This was ver clean and functional, with an adequate shower room. Hwoever, no soap provided (which I think they should stretch to).
This place has all the facilties from table tennis to Playstation to Pool, a communal area, and a dining hall.
All staff are very friendly (in a businesslike manner) and speak English, which is a big plus. The food is also good - nothing over exciting, but certainly good quality.
One can also purchase drinks from the communal area, and socialise here at any time.
And another big plus - they provide wi-fi in the communal areas. Certainly good for me.
I would certainly recommend this hostel!
