We were on an extended family vacation. we took 4 rooms of various sizes (every family was nicely accommodated in a different size room according to number of people - up to 6).
Each room has a master bedroom, another bedroom, living room, kitchenette, AC and TV.
Staff speak only very basic English and reception is open for a short window twice a day.
If you plan to reach the hotel after receptionist clothes you have to notify them in advance otherwise you might he left without accommodations.
The hotel is on the outskirts of town which was good for us since we were doing a lot of hiking and used it only as a place to sleep.
Not much parking in the vicinity, anice nice boulangerie Bakery a minute away and an Open Air Market about 10 minutes by foot that is open a few times a week and has a lot of fruits and vegetables.
This place is more like a student accommodation block than a normal hotel. You get a bedroom and separate kitchen/sitting room which is nice for those who prefer to do a bit of self catering - hence, I can't say what the breakfast is like.
It is a bit far out from the city centre but the tram routes T1 and T3 are nearby. The T3 goes to the railway station and the journey is about fifteen minutes. They are also very frequent.
The reception staff that I met speak good English and were very helpful with advice about such things as the nearest supermarket and the tram-ticketing system.
We stayed here for 4 days, and found the apartments smart and clean, and pretty well appointed. The rooms (1 lounge/bedroom/kitchen & 1 bathroom) are large and spacious, and the beds are large and comfortable. Could do with a proper oven as microwave-combis are never as good. The restaurants nearby are limited, but a short walk away is a Savoiarde Restaurant called the Raclette. Also nearby is a Casino supermarket. Plus St Etienne centre is only a 3km walk/tram/drive away.
Of all the hotels we stayed in on our three week journey around France this was the least enjoyable.
No real complaints but also nothing to write home about. The room was clean and the bed fairly comfortable but the whole building lacked any character.
The shower over the bath was difficult to control and sprayed out over the bathroom floor.
Breakfast was quite adequate and staff helpful and friendly.
My family and I stayed here for a weekend in June, we had around 10 rooms in total. All the rooms were clean and we couldn't really complain. The rooms don't have hairdryers or irons but you can request one from the reception at an extra cost.
One strange thing we noticed was the arrangement of the toilet facilities, in one room was the bath/shower and a sink but in another small room was the toilet without a sink!
There are plenty of bakeries and small supermarkets nearby but restaurants will require a car.
There is free Wifi but we found it wasn't reliable as it cut out quite often, you will need a password for each device that you have (i.e computer, mobile phone).
There are times when the reception is closed so if you need help you will need to wait! We found we couldn't check out on Sunday as the reception was closed but luckily family members were staying till Monday so could check out for us.
