House and rooms were lovely ! Host was unfriendly and very rule oriented. Blois is a lovely town with lots to see and do and beautiful bicycling along the Loire River. The French countryside is gorgeous.
Charming older house very near the castle and the centre of Blois. Our room had a small Juliette balcony, was very comfortable and overlooked the peaceful garden. The breakfast was very good. The proprietor was charming and could not have been more helpful, helping us with regards to local restaurants etc and even keeping a parking space for us outside (like in many towns it is difficult to find parking). It is in a one way street that is very narrow about 50 yards away and if you have a wide car (like us) it is a very - and I mean very - tight squeeze.
My husband and I spent four fabulous nights at du Carrior.
Great location within the historic town of Blois, within walking distance to main town.
We arrived early in the morning before check in time and our host was very welcoming allowing us to drop our luggage off in our room that wasn’t ready.
Our room was very spacious , clean and very comfortable. Our linens were changed daily, which has not always been my experience in B&B’s
What sets this B& B apart from many is the fantastic breakfast served every day.
The table was set with amazing French breads & pastries, local cheese, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and jams, prosciutto . You wouldn’t go away hungry.
Our last day we checked out at 5:30AM and our host was waiting in the dining room with a quick breakfast and a packed bag of Fresh pastries.
Yes, it is true the owners do not speak English but we just used Google translate so it was not a problem at all. Also there was always a guest who spoke English and they would translate on our behalf.
I would recommend this B&B 100%,
Many thanks from your Canadian guests

I have never rated a beautiful BnB so low before simply because of the owner!
We have just spent 4 nights at La Maison in the Albertine Room. Plus : our room was lovely with a comfortable bed, good lighting, good bathroom, breakfast was great and plentiful- until Chantal learns you don’t know French. Then she serves you cold coffee and it goes on from there.
We had read the previous reviews about Chantal’s refusal to speak English and I thought (as many of you would) that I would muddle my way through with gestures and my halting school French. I thought Chantal would be pleasant and helpful and encouraging - nothing could be further from the truth. Every attempt at French from myself, my husband and another Australian traveller was met with outright rudeness. A barage of aggressive French that we had no hope of understanding. She stopped fully servicing our room on day 2 and we were left with only 2 towels and a bathmat.
After requesting 3 times ( in perfectly translated French) for a washer and hand towel we started opening cupboards and found them ourselves. She did provide these eventually but by then no communication was forthcoming.
Other French fluent guests were treated like royalty.
So my advice to Chantal - stop taking guests who don’t meet your standards. You live in a busy tourist town - if you want to stop taking non-French speaking guests.....Just do it! I know that you understand English and you stubbornly have just refused to ever learn basic communication. I also know that English would be a basic part of your business and commerce - I fail to see how you can be so arrogant as to treat your paying customers so rudely.
Because of racially motivated behaviour you have set yourself above those that are non-French speaking and I find this behaviour appalling.
We had the most enchanting time in our rooms just out of a fairy tale. In fact, all 4 rooms Chantal is offering are just immaculous and show of great taste. For those of you who like French antics and brocantes that will be the place to stay. Each room is uniquly furnished with great style and taste. Still equipped with all modern amenities like Nespresso coffee maker and cooler. And then there is the 5 star breakfast - which even the most frequent travellers like us had never experienced before: ALL handmade (cakes, jams, joghurts, juices etc.), in a lovely setup, a quantity of delicious things in best organic quality. Thank you Chantal, merci beaucoup! We had a perfect time in Blois and your beautiful, stylish and conveniently located countryhouse!
