We had been desperately awaiting this break, and unfortunately felt a little disappointed with tbe hotel. The staff... faultless. Lovely and accomodating. The view.. amazing.. absolutely stunning. The hotel, especially our room, felt tired. Certainly not what was pictured. Windows dirty. Some mould in the bathroom, and damage with paint coming away from the bathroom door, long term problem. The floor boards in rooms 78 79 &80.. horrendous, so we were awake til 1am when one side finally went to bed, and then awake again at 6.30 with the otherside up! At one point somebody obviously jumped onto their bed and our whole bed moved!🤣 Im sure we werent thd first people to mention it, hotel was full so we couldnt move rooms.

My partner and I had our first holiday together here in the Ruskin Suite and loved in that much that we have returned again.

OVERVIEW

The hotel has a rather rustic feel to it in an old and true English fashion. The added bonus with this is that the staff, in particular the restaurant staff, are first class with their service. It leaves a sense of being in a luxury hotel.

PROS

The Hotel is built on a hill so from the front it appears to be only w floors. To the rear of the hotel is a clear picturesque view of lake Windermere, looking down from a hill top. Even if you go for a cheaper room at the front of the building, you will still have access to the views of the garden areas at the rear.

Spa treatments are available but you really need to book these in advance before your visit. Also, since covid, you're limited to the amount of time in the indoor pool/out door hot tubs (they have 2 now) etc.

It's also really quiet which is a bonus for a light sleeper.

CONS

Parts of the areas are a bit tired and could do with a touch up. The Ruskin Suite can get cold due to only having one radiator but heaters are on hand on request.

Probably due to covid but on our last visit, you had to pay extra to upgrade to a cooked breakfast but they still brought out a full continental beforehand which was a waste that would've gone against cost.

The restaurant also isn't cheap! The portions tend to be small. However, you're not too far from Bowness-on-Windermere where there are other eateries to explore if you prefer.

SUMMARY

A great relaxing getaway with an amazing peaceful view in an environment where you are looked after.

Great for a romantic break for two.

Why 5 star when there are cons? The pros of the views and peace of mind the area brings far outweigh the negatives. Just bear in mind the additional beget required if you're going to stay in the hotel with spa treatments and food.

On our last visit on 21st May 2021 where I again booked the Ruskin Suite, I took my girlfriend down to the jetty, got down on one knee and popped the question. A perfect location for a proposal!

Room Tip: Since you can access the garden area, you could pay for a cheaper room and sit outside anyway.

Arrived, nice enough. Checked in, use of spa would be £17.50 per person and cooked breakfast was extra. Opted for use of spa, although don’t think they should be charging for using pools. Went up to room, nice enough but not blown away, nice view of lake, chairs & table on decking outside patio doors, nice, until opened patio doors & stretch of decking to neighbouring rooms also with chairs & table, no screening so no privacy, disappointed. There was an extra spa pool which we could see from our room, no privacy for the people using it. Used pool, not busy so enjoyed it, although it needed TLC. Had 1st meal, 2 course, Chicken meal very nice, followed by plum crumble and ice cream (nice but couldn’t eat all crumble as not enough ice cream too dry) partner had burger (over cooked), followed by cheese selection (very happy with cheese selection). Because of the prices and bit disappointed overall, was considering cancelling following nights meal booking. Breakfast, continental (very nice selection) they bring this to you but you have to get your own tea or coffee (didn’t really make sense they couldn’t bring that to keep people away from things). Went out for day, when we got back room hadn’t been cleaned bins not emptied, hospitality tray not replenished (If this was because of covid then they should make this clear) We had 1 course for meal, we both opted for steak (paying a supplement) I asked for chips, partner wanted potatoes, both came out with potatoes. Waitress apologised but I didn’t want to wait for them to correct it, so ate it. (It was very nice). My partner and I have stayed in luxury hotels as well as basic, so are used to varying quality, on this occasion we were disappointed overall. The staff were nice enough, but don’t feel it was value for money and would not book this hotel again, I got the impression they are trying to be something they are not.

We loved staying here. The staff are so friendly. The rooms are very clean and have amazing views. The pool and spa is fantastic with amazing view again. But ask about price as we didn't know it was extra to just to use the pool. The food is 10 out of 10.

We have booked this hotel just 2days before lockdown as we wanted to get away with the family. This place is absolutely amazing. I can’t rate it enough...the staff are so attentive, helpful and polite. We stayed in a massive family room, having two young kids, we were worried about the sleeping arrangement but was provided with a cot and a
Sofa bed. Our room also have a balcony with the lake view and waking up to that is the best thing ever. The spa was out of this world, with 2jacuzzis and indoor heated pool, sauna and steam room. Its worth every penny just for the view itself! This is by far the best hotel in the lakes. We have also paid for continental breakfast and dinner thinking it’s only 1main course, then out it was a 3course meal u get with the price...and the food was soooooooooo delicious, I cannot move afterwards! We were really gutted that we have to leave and that the hotel had to shut due to lockdown. However, we will definitely be back here again and we will recommend this place to anyone😍

Ps this hotel doesn’t have a lift so having to carry the pram up n downstairs urself apart from that it’s great for the kids and they’ve loved it.

Thank you so much BEECH HILL HOTEL

Are there plenty of loungers by the pool?
Answer from SteveHManchester
Mar 2018 |
The pool area is relatively small with around 5 or 6 loungers inside. There is also a steam room and sauna near the pool as well as the hot tub outside which will probably be suitable for around 6 people. On the numerous occasions we have stayed at this hotel, it was always possible to get a lounger (but we tend to go in December)
