Morrels has the reputation of refined luxury at a price. We booked in for one night on the 24th April to celebrate our 14th Wedding anniversary. I originally booked a standard room but was contacted in the course of the day to be told that we had been upgraded to a luxury room at no extra cost, I thank them for this kind gesture. The room was everything we expected. Unfortunately, breakfast left a sour taste in in mouth. We ordered our breakfast just after the kitchen opened, we kept it simple as we had errands to run and needed to leave early, French toast and basic English breakfast. We waited 40 min for this simple breakfast, another guest who arrived 10 min after we did was served before we were and we eventually had to leave as we simply couldn't wait any longer. If this is the service that Morrels deems appropriate for a luxury establishment I'm afraid we will support similar establishments where service matches ambiance.

Yes there are 52 steps to the top floor apartment but it is good for you!
Lovely views and very comfortable. 2 good sized bedrooms and cosy living space with pleasant kitchen with breakfast bar. Parking a bonus in this central location. We had a great stay and enjoyed our meal in the restaurants. Definitely return.

Lovely clean, spacious apartment. Had everything we needed. Comfy beds, great shower. A really well equipped kitchen.
The views from all the windows were breathtaking. Fantastic location in the town centre.
Cannot say a bad word about it.

Room Tip: Apartment 4 is at the top of the building so be prepared for lots of stairs.

This is not a luxury apartment but for the money it is good. The apartment we stayed in was number 4 and was at the top of 52 steps. The views were excellent but some noise from the main road running at the side of property. The bedrooms were not large and the double bed small. The bathroom and kitchen were good clean and tidy.

The first time we stayed in this apartment (4) we were on our own and this time we had our two grandchildren with us (aged 7 & 10). We let the boys have the double bed and we had the two singles. The lounge suite and lounge carpet had been renewed since our last visit in July 2014 as well as the curtains. However, I did feel that the new curtains although very nice still stuck on the rails and the hooks kept on falling out - not a big problem, but blackout blinds would have been the better option. The washing machine still used very hot water even on a 30 deg wash and this could be a problem if you were washing merino wool walking tops or other technical gear. However, not to be negative, this apartment is still in a prime position in Keswick with the all important parking space which is invaluable. Lots of child friendly walks from Keswick and the leisure centre, crazy golf and lake not far away. There is a lack of mirror space and good lighting in the bathroom - would suggest down lighters on the next upgrade. Because we had the twin bedded room, I had to keep on going into the main bedroom to dry my hair as there were no electrical sockets close to the dressing table, and the mirror was too high for me to see in as I am 5ft tall. The double bedroom had a long moveable mirror with a socket extension (not perfect but OK). All in all a good stay, but care is needed to be on keep on the ball with regard to facilities to keep the luxury tag. We paid £600 for the week in Peak Season. Morrel's continues to be the best restaurant in the area, and although we did not visit this time (no dedicated children's menu), we struggled to find anywhere as good. In fact the choice of pub food was over priced and basically the same in all the Keswick pubs. The only one we though good was Wainwrights - at the end of the street. Be aware of the huge number of stairs to reach the attic apartment No. 4) mentioned in the brochure - this is no exaggeration and would definitely not be suited to anyone with a walking a difficulty. Free wifi a bonus but a little bit hit and miss at times and you kept having to log in. Despite the negatives, we would stay again if in the area.
