As our previously booked accommodation near Lovina suffered from the noise of a huge building site we had to move and came to ‘Saraswati’ at short notice. And we couldn’t have been more fortunate to find this substitute! The well-kept premises of Saraswati Holiday House (consisting of two Balinese-style bungalows for guests and the family home of the German and Balinese owners) is situated next to a small river (where I spotted my first Balinese kingfisher! :o) amidst a beautiful lush garden with a pool and two bamboo gazebos. Futhermore, right between the two bungalows there is a small building that serves as a kitchen with basic equipment and one fridge for each bungalow where your daily breakfast is being stored to be prepared by yourself (without being dependent on breakfast times!) – by the way, the breakfast is really great! Apart from breakfast basics such as toast, jam, honey and eggs it consists of a huge bowl of a changing variety of fresh fruit and home-backed bread. Even though the grounds are not that huge we found it quite amazing how we always had someone to talk to if we had questions such as the rental of a scooter, arranging for a driver, a restaurant recommendation etc. but otherwise felt absolutely private and undisturbed. Various Restaurants are only two streets away (we recommend Warung Bali9 and Warung Made), the centre of Lovina is about 15 minutes by foot. We stayed for one week, made some excursions but we were rarely at the sea (3 Minutes by foot) because we enjoyed the tropical garden so much - and, to be honest, found it very hard to leave thanks to Burgel, her family and the always friendly and helpful but completely unobtrusive staff.

We found this secret family garden in the internet. This is the best choice you can do. You can stay at home in a privat pool or you walk just 10 min to the beach. You can go out for dinner or order. The very friendly german Balinese couple and b there stuff help you with all you want to do.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys, 7 & 8 yrs. We booked the 2 bedroom villa for a week from 12-19 June. It is right next to the owner's own home in the same compound. There are only 2 villas- 2 bedroom and 1 bed-room with a separate house kitchen in between the 2 villas, thus a very cosy place to stay in compared to the usual faceless hotels. It is set in a beautiful garden and sits in front of the swimming pool. The entire place is very private as it is away from the main road (200m).
No aircon in the rooms as there is no need for them as the villa is built with high ceiling and good ventilation. Ceiling fans are good enough and it becomes chilly early at dawn during our visit. Spacious shared bathroom with hot water shower (You have to wait for a couple of minutes as it is powered by the solar panels). Mosquito nets for the bed as well. Rooms are cleaned every morning and bedsheets changed every third day.
Breakfast is placed in the kitchen every morning (cut fruits, eggs, cheese, brown bread, coffee & tea, milk and local deserts). More than enough for our family and sometimes, we packed the extras for tea or snacks. DIY though and you don't look forward to cooking if you feel lazy. The owners (Burgel and Made) are very sweet and helpful people. Burgel recommended many sight seeing local places (away from the usual touristy places). One such place is glass painting and wayang kulit making in the village of Nagasepeha. We visited the family that makes wayang kulit and saw the artisan at work. When Burgel knew that both my wife and I liked to try the traditional local breakfast (Nasi Kuning), two packets appeared every morning in addition to the usual stuff and she refused to charge us! That's family service for you!
Although they don't offer cooking services like some other villas, she recommended a hidden gem on Jalan Loviana, 2 streets away (400m). It's Warung Bali 9, owned by a lovely couple and they served authentic home cooked Balinese food. Our meals were always there on days that we were not traveling out of Lovina. Excellent food and she does cooking lessons as well. The dolphin watching can also be done at the end of Jalan Loviana near the beach. Don't miss it. It's a life time experience. The son (Made) of Warung Made (also on the same street) gave very good services with the dolphin watching. He owns 4 outriggers and his own boat has 2 engines, the fastest among the rest of the boats.
At the end of our trip, we hoped we could have stayed longer.

Fantastic place. Only 2 villa's; 1 family villa and 1 villa for 2 persons. We stayed in the little villa: good room, partly open air bathroom, big terras to relax.
Garden and pool are very nice and kept clean.
You have to prepare Breakfast yourself ( wich was nice) : toast, jam, eggs, honey, cheese, different kinds of fruit, cake....
Staff and owners really friendly
We enjoyed our stay very much!

We spent five nights here and would have loved to stay longer! The two cottages are surrounded by a breath-taking garden (flowers, birds, pool, pavillons etc.). The whole resort is very clean and well taken care of. All our trips have been perfectly organised thanks to Burgel and her staff. Also the suggestions by previous guests in the guestbook are really helpful. Putu took us for an amazing snorkeling trip. Also: do not miss out on the massages in the garden! Thank you for the pleasant stay!
