This was a last minute booking for a trip with the family going to La Union. We wanted to stay in San Juan but the place where we wanted to stay was fully booked so we chose China Sea instead. We stayed here for 2 nights - we had 3 separate rooms for 2.

We didn't expect much but the place is pretty charming and the buildings were quite new. They had a fair size of a swimming pool which is alright for swimming and dipping (didn't get to swim there though). The view is pretty nice with the restaurant facing the sea, which is not good for swimming as it is high tide most of the time and the waves were pretty rough when we went there (and it kind of had a funny fishy smell, not sure what that was).

Our room was the bungalow type facing the reception. The room we were in was clean but I'm not too sure about the bathroom. The lightings were a bit dark - going for a romantic atmosphere, I guess? The airconditioner temperature goes cold quickly but the AC in the room (one upstairs) that our other family members had didn't work properly so it was a bit hot in their room. They called it in reception but they just gave them a huge electric fan.

We also had free breakfast with our room - I think it was only available for rainy season. The breakfast was okay; they had a variety to choose from which were Filipino style and also had a choice of hot (tea, coffee) or cold (orange juice) beverages.

We also had dinner there on our last night and the price, quantity, and quality of the food were good and fair.

The customer service was on point as well. They had friendly and hospitable staff in the place. Kudos to the guard who was very friendly, he was greeting and talking to every guests :)

Overall, our stay in China Sea was top notch. The place is pretty nice and it is very affordable!

The room was good but not the best. Parking was not the what we were expecting. I assumed it'd be challenging to park during peak season. The beach was just there for sight-seeing, not for swimming. It was rocks here and there. But that's where their nice swimming pools come in.

We were scheduled to travel to the regional DFA in San Fernando, La Union and had decided to stay in the area for the weekend. We had 3 choices actually when booking and good enough we chose this resort. We were greeted by friendly staff, especially Gladys who was manning the reception area.

There is no shoreline as the waters on the beach had eaten up the few meters of sand and the waves are dangerously slamming into the breakwater rocks. We had to spend our swimming on the pool which was clean in a well-maintained landscape surrounding.

The room was just enough for the four of us, wife and 2 kids. Basic amenities with queen bed and single bed with TV, air conditioning, free wifi and hot water bath. They served complimentary breakfast too.

The best thing about the place is the food. Great choices of combo-meals and Filipino specialties. We sampled several of their offerings absolutely delicious. They are very generous with their servings too. The kids and the wifey were satisfied. Kudos to the 2 chefs.

Pros: Nice garden, absolute waterfront, great sunset bar location, kid friendly, big clean rooms. Local resort prices in resto/bar ie: low end for foreigners.
Cons: No beach and no way to get near the rocky ocean edge unless you dive off the wall (not recommended unless you're suicidal) resto/bar staff very inattentive, not that there's much for them to do anyway. Pool is full of screaming kids most of the afternoon, if that's not your idea of a restful stay, then avoid. Absentee foreign owner, shows up once a week aparrently. Very basic amentities in room sliver of soap and tiny shampoo sachet. No tissues. No tea/coffee maker facility. Not even running water. Speaking of drinking, their cocktails are watery weak. But that's generally the case in the PI unless you're paying big bucks. Meaning P250 up.
