My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, 4 & 2 years old) had such a great stay at the Parkside recently. The lobby, as mentioned by so many other reviews, is stunning both for adults and for children. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. We booked a deluxe 1 bedroom and it was the perfect size for our family. The kitchen was well equipped although we brought our own cutting board & knife. We were nervous about the pool availability, however we had no issues getting spots other than our day of arrival. Our friend who has a locals punch pass to the pool tried to book with us but they told her they were only allowing hotel guests to book that day as the hotel was max capacity - which, as paying hotel guests, we appreciated the hotel making sure their guests had priority.
My feedback to the hotel is to upgrade the TVs in the rooms. They are not smart TVs and there are no movies available beyond what is available on the very basic cable provided. Our kids don't use tablets and after putting them to bed my husband and I would have appreciated being able to watch Netflix or similar. We brought our Amazon fire stick but due to position the TVs are mounted to the wall, we weren't able to plug it in. An extension cord would help with that.
The hotel location is very central and within walking distance of most attractions in downtown Victoria. We ended up driving a fair bit since our kids are young and take forever to walk. $17/night parking is a bit steep.
Overall, we had such a great stay at the Parkside. In fact, after just one night there (out of 3) we called to inquire about adding a 4th night (sadly they were fully boked) and booked ourselves for a weekend in December! So, see you in a few weeks, Parkside!
This was a great place to stay for a family trip with young children. The suites have everything you need including kitchen and laundry. The pool was big, spacious, and well set up for COVID to book 1 hour slots. The hot tub is great with good rules in place so everyone can enjoy. There's coffee in your suite, or a cafe from 7-3 which serves great espresso. Staff are friendly and responsive and provide what you need with a quick phone call. Parking is easy and ample.
The suites were large, well equipped and very comfortable. The location meant we could walk throughout downtown and easily access Beacon Hill Park without having to use our car. Staff were friendly and helpful.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in October as a getaway. The hotel is lovely and the staff members are very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was the perfect size for us. Great living space and we quite enjoyed the fireplace with the cooler evenings. The mini-kitchen was also nice for breakfast supplies and for refrigerating leftovers from restaurants. The location is excellent just a block and a half or so behind the Empress. They have very strict COVID control for sign-up for pool times (which we used twice) and the fitness centre (which looked good but we didn't use it).
We ended up renting a car because the airport shuttles weren't operating due to COVID so to take a taxi would have almost cost as much as the 4-day car rental. Underground parking was spacious (but the hotel was not full) and the cost reasonable at $17 per night. Wifi was very fast.
The only negative was that we heard the group next door quite a bit one evening and the following morning but it really didn't bother us. We had a unit with interconnecting doors. I'm not sure if they have them but I would advise requesting a room without an interconnecting door if you are noise sensitive.
All in all, a wonderful stay.
We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary here during COVID-19. The staff were friendly and did a wonderful job of making it special for us. The room was spacious and clean, and the COVID-19 protocols kept us feeling safe. It is a beautiful hotel and we will definitely be back!
