While the Grand Solmar is a beautiful facility, it fails as an all-inclusive and, in that regard, I could not have been more disappointed. Read on for details.
In the world of resorts, "all-inclusive" typically means to include lodging, meals and activities. The problem is in that at the Grand Solmar, there are no activities. The ocean waters are, essentially, inaccessible because of the surf and undertoe. There are no water/beach based activities. Nothing, nothing to do except sit out/lay out and bake by or float in the pools (which are gorgeous.) So, if you have been looking at all-inclusve resorts in the sense that it includes water/beach related activities, look elsewhere.
Even the fitness center is limited by its hours, closing at 4pm.
What is included in the all-inclusive are meals and drinks. The meals were variable, ranging from the worst margherita pizza ever at The Sports Bar to an incredible grilled fish taco at the same restaurant and the saddest brownie/ice cream dessert at the same location.
What was good: the facilities are beautiful and the grounds, including the pools and landscaping, are among the best I've seen.
What else is good: the staff, gracious and accommodating to a fault.
What else failed: I emailed the reservations support with a question about my paid-for airport transportation and received no response. When we arrived at the Cabo airport, Grand Colmar had no record of our paid transportion to the facility. And, when we were ready to leave the facility, had no record of our paid transportation back to the airport. I was told it was all a "system error".
The point: if you want a beautiful facility where you can float in some beautiful pools and bake in a beautiful oceanside setting, while doing nothing else, come here. If you had planned on engaging in outdoor/water-based activity, go elsewhere.
We are members of this resort and just absolutely love it. All rooms face the ocean and it has several lovely pools, swim up bars, quiet areas, Jacuzzi’s. You can swim in the infinity pool just stare out at the Pacific, watching whales in the distance during November to March. This year we came down during COVID-19, staff taking extra precautions to sanitize, social distance, taking temps at entrance, masks required. Very relaxing and wonderful staff. There are several restaurants on site and the food is delicious.
Roberto and staff were amazing as always. We travel to Cabo 2-3 times a year and it’s always world class accommodations from the Spa to the Sunset pool ( our favorite ).
Thanks again and will see you in April.

The Solmar was a nice surprise. The resort comprise of 3 properties all interconnected. The Solmar Resort, Grand Solmar at lands end and The Ridge Solmar. The property offers a myriad of accommodations from traditional hotel rooms, we had the one bedroom suites. Our suite was located within The Ridge property and facing the marina. I highly recommend this view. The marina view is lively. During the day, you can the mountains, in the evening the lights of Marina and town was enchanting. The proximity to the marina was great. No transportation needed as it is within 7 minute walk into town and marina. The room was grand, spacious and layout was like an apartment. The bedroom provided privacy, and the livingroom and kitchen area was big enough to entertain guests. The balcony was big and gave us such a nice place to relax in the morning and evening. The spa was excellent. The staff were all professional and courteous, first class customer service delivery. The amenities within the spa was calming and relaxing, the spa pool was peaceful and offered wonderful view. I highly recommend this spa.
The restaurant, we only tried 2: Lunch at the ridge pool and the steak restaurant. The ridge pool was very good. The guacamole was fresh and creamy, just absolutely delicious. The seafood ceviche was good, the salad bowl was also tasty. The steak restaurant was ok. The meat selection has a variety but the quality can be better. The ambiance was great. Its right by the water so, a romantic dinner would be nice there. The only unpleasant experience we had was at the steak restaurant. We arrived 30 minutes prior to closing, which is 9pm. I understand that due to COVID, limited guests on property that time would be different, but a 9pm closing is early. The staff made us feel unwelcome and rushed.
