Great little boutique hotel away from the beaten path but not to far that you lose touch with the town. Hotel was great everything you need, food, drink, pool, clean comfortable rooms and genuinely caring staff. Had a great time here in the pool during some very very hot days. Short affordable taxi ride to town centre or a twenty minute leisurely walk.
Thanks again Dan, Jolie and Eduardo.

We stayed at the Casita de Maya for 3 nights. We wish our stay was longer. We had such a wonderful stay. The owner, Dan, was so helpful, as everyone on this review has already said. He recommended wonderful restaurants that are in the nearby residential area. We enjoyed walking around the area at night to restaurants (though I was concerned about wild dogs at times...). We rented a car with Dan's help and stopped at all the places he recommended. The room was also lovely. There is a small swimming pool and we enjoyed our evening swim.

We did not have a pleasant experience in another lodge in Punta Allen before getting there. So we were really hoping to have a helpful host this time around, and we certainly got it! Thanks, Dan, again. We hope to be back real soon!

All the great reviews here are true…What more can be said? Dan, does indeed, live up to his legendary status within these reviews. He was waiting for us upon arrival. We were starving after our day of travel so Dan took us over to La Perlita and hung out and had a drink with us, helped us order our food (we only speak “un poco espanol”), and gave us a quick rundown of the island. After his drink, he left us to our meal. Speaking of our meal, we ordered (with Dan’s help) the catch of the day which was a HUGE fish that filled a turkey platter, served with rice, guacamole, and corn tortillas. It was absolutely spectacular. On another day, we decided we wanted to just eat in, but the pizza place that delivered was closed. Dan recommended another pizza place that didn’t deliver but he went and picked up the pizza for us! It was these little personal touches Dan provided that helped to make us feel at home.

Now, onto Casita de Maya itself. Beautifully decorated, cozy and inviting. We stayed in the lovely King room with lush bedding. The pool/courtyard was a beautiful place to relax. As other reviewers have mentioned, even though it is across from the airport, you won’t hear any planes. We did walk all the way to the town square one night, which took about 30 minutes. If you aren’t into walking that far, a cab will only cost a few dollars. Regardless, we enjoyed the location, far enough away from the cruise ship madness, but close enough that we could venture out if we desired. In fact, it is relatively quick and inexpensive to get a cab to anywhere on the island except maybe the eastern shore. If renting a car is more your speed, Dan can help you with that, too.

Trixie the dog and Kitty served as co-hosts and helped us feel a tad less homesick for the furry kids we left at home. Be sure to ask to see Trixie “stretch” and “moonwalk!”

Diego (just around the corner) served up excellent Huevos Rancheros and Chiliquiles for breakfast. I am convinced he serves the best black beans on the planet. You certainly won’t be hungry for awhile after eating a hearty breakfast at Diego’s.

We are already looking forward to our next Cozumel vacation. And we will look no further than Casita de Maya. See you in 2011, Dan!!

I am leaving the hotel today after staying there for a week. This is my third visit and it is awesome. A small quiet hotel with truly friendly folks. It is close to the airport, but extremely quiet and private. I rented a car, but cheap taxi service is available for the 5 minute drive to the main plaza. The rooms are immaculate and the A/C units are mini splits. When it is a little warmer the pool is 5 steps from your room for a morning plunge. My only complaint is that I had to leave.

I stayed at the lovely Casita de Maya for a weekend in October, and was impressed with pretty much everything I came across. I stayed in a queen room, which was tastefully decorated and well appointed. It contained a bar fridge and a microwave, as well as a flat screen tv. Lots of lights with controls near the bed, a spacious close to hang your things, and a bathroom with a roomy shower that you could actually turn around in. Plentiful hot water and bath linens completed it, and a face cloth was a nice surprise as very few hotels in Latin America have them. My room had windows that faced the courtyard, which itself sported a small but quite adequate pool that was bright, clean, and perfect for a dip after a hot day. I was well taken care of by Dan, the owner, and Daniel, the Jack of all trades and cook extraordinaire. Polite, friendly and efficient, both gentlemen saw that I had everything I needed. And two resident fur balls assured me of the pet love I cannot have at home due to my travel schedule.

The only issue would be the proximity to the downtown are of Cozumel, it would be too long a walk. Fortunately cabs are cheap, and it did not cost me more than 30- 50 pesos depending on where I was going. A small price to pay for such a beautiful spot. When my travels take me to Cozumel again, I will most definitely stay there.

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry with us. Our pool is not heated. It is still quite comfortable until around mis December. Yes we have bottom floor rooms that can accommodate mobility scooters, and have double doors that are plenty wide enough to pass through.

Good morning, Thank you for your interest in our facility. We do offer a Family Suite option that includes 2 rooms that adjoin to each other. One room has a queen bedroom, and the other had 2 twin beds. A common door separates the two rooms for privacy. The pool is located steps from each room. It's not a deep pool, about 4 1/2 feet deep. The waterfront is about 12 blocks walking distance, and a beautiful beach area is. Short 10 min can ride away. Regards, Dan

Hi! They don't have a play yard, the place is not that big, I do not know about the crib. You can have a lot of fun at the pool. I really enjoyed the place.
