I have been meaning to write this review for weeks and am sorry it has taken so long! My partner and I stayed at this beautiful Casa for 3 nights this March.
We were warmly welcomed at the door by the owner (Yuni) who showed us to our room, gave us some much needed water and left us to get organised for 15 minutes. Yuni came back to make sure we were settling in well and then gave us a map of Havana and explained the directions to our morning appointment to us. She then recommended some nearby restaurants within walking distance that we might be able to try that evening.
When we got back to the room we slept well. The room was clean and had a nice en suite bathroom and the bed was comfortable.
The next morning, we were met with a massive plate of fresh fruit each, a freshly made omelette, some bread, fresh fruit juice and fabulous coffee.
Any time we needed anything we felt extremely comfortable to ask Yuni. She was always willing to give advice. She was also quite relaxed and had some fun or made fun of us a little when we deserved it which we liked. Love bit of sass!
Importantly, you can tell that Juni takes a lot of pride in her business and in Havana. You feel very safe in her presence and can tell that she will defend what is hers and ensure that her high standards are met. At one point I was having an uncomfortable conversation with another guest and she noticed and interved. I was very grateful for this personal touch.
We found the location to be good. We were able to walk to most places within about an hour and there was a lot to see and do in the immediate vicinity.
If we are ever lucky enough to go back to Havana, I am sure we will stay here again.
This was our favourite casa in Cuba, no doubt.
We stayed at Casa Mi Tierra for 4 nights. Yuni is a lovely lady as well as great host. We were welcomed warmly in the evening and she gave us a map with plenty of information, and directed us to a place for our first mojito in Cuba. She speaks Italian and English perfectly.
The house is beautiful with a lovely sitting area with a balcony. Our room was spacious with comfy beds and an ensuite bathroom with a large shower. The room has AC and a safe (the safe put our mind at rest as we were carrying a lot of money!). There is a router in the house where you can connect to the WiFi with the etecsa card.
Brekfast is very well presented with lots of fresh fruit, toasted bread, coffee, omelet, cookies, juice.
The location is in Habana vieja, great to soak in the true Cuban atmosphere on the streets and minutes away from many attractions.
I would stay again for sure and cannot reccomend this house enough :)
We spent 5 days in this Casa. We just wanted to say a huge thank you for Yuni as she was a wonderful host. Our room was spotless, cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. She was very helpful and answered all our questions when we had one. Her cooking is also amazing (we decided to dine in one night and it was delicious). Thank you Yuni for making our stay wothwile!
My wife and I have just had a wonderful 5 days in Havana staying at Yuni’s casa - Yuni, you were such a lovely, kind and helpful host! Room and facilities were perfect for us and the location and atmosphere of old Havana just added to our enjoyment. Thank you for the lovely breakfasts and all your help. Hope we can return one day.
This casa was our first and last accommodation for our trip to Cuba, and was easily our favourite. Don’t be put off by the outside - it is Cuba Vieja after all - inside is a beautiful, spacious, colonial-style apartment with 3 large rooms, each sleeping 2 people. Our teenage daughters loved their room, near the balcony, and we all appreciated the delicious breakfast of mango, banana, pineapple and lots of other fresh fruit, with the best coffee we’ve ever tasted. Nothing was too much bother for our lovely hostess Juni. Highly recommended.
