Thank you Pethers.
I hope this email finds you well! Firstly I would like to thank all staff for their outstanding service and hospitality shown to us on our stay at your establishment last night.
But its been eating at me since I left today that for the money your charging its just not up to scratch for a perceived 5 star accommodation! The room outlook beautiful the size of the rooms very generous. But the small details are where you let yourselves down the bathroom had tiles cracked and broken from the shower to the wall which caused me to cut my foot , also there is a lot of mold in the shower and a pungent smell coming from the shower drain , not very nice.
As this was a gift from my children for Christmas and did cost a lot of money and I did expect a lot more.
I hope this helps you improve your standards into the future but I can’t give this resort a favourable review , thank you.
We did the 3 night mid week stay. The ambience of Pethers is unrivaled. The Tree house accommodation is very large, with a huge balcony, spa bath for two, a fire place and plenty of privacy. If others were staying in one of the other tree houses we only knew about them at Dinner time. The only sounds were the birdsongs in the forest. The service and food in the restaurant top quality. Breakfast was served as a picnic delivered to the room around 8.30 each morning making the mornings very relaxed. Our alarm each morning was a bird who saw himself reflected in the floor to roof windows that faced the balcony. From your bed or the spa you still get to look out the at beautiful views. It's not luxury as in consumables provided . No robes, only 1 bar of soap, (shampoo and body wash was replenished each day) bathroom pretty ordinary... but the luxury of the setting compensates. I'd definitely recommend this place for a romantic retreat where you feel like your the only ones in the place.
It's a very welcoming place. The rooms are calming and in a peaceful location. We heard no noise in the evening and had the best sleeps. The spa bath is a treat! Location is good, okay to walk to Main St. The breakfasts were satisfying and thoughtfully put together with local ingredients. Reception sells bath soaks if you want that are locally made for the spa. We stayed 3 nights, we should have stayed 4 nights to enjoy the room a bit more as we were mostly out during the day. WiFi weak in rooms so don't bring work with you!
I was very much looking forward to staying here over New Year. There were good and bad points that others should be aware of.
PROS: friendly staff, nice (if unimaginative) breakfast delivered to your door daily, second to none views of the rainforests, quiet and private, great spa bath and gas fireplace, large rooms. Very nice picnic was provided (at additional cost).
CONS: The resort talks up its restaurant, in room dining and daily happy hour that takes place, "every day" according to the website and the compendium in the room. However, we stayed for four nights and there was NOT ONE happy hour, the restaurant was closed the entire time and they were unable to provide any in room dining for us. I was promised a list of open restaurants in the area ands told that the staff would help with making reservations, but no list was ever provided and my husband and I had to do our own research and make our own reservations....very disappointing. If I had known there would be no dining and no happy hour the entire time we were there, I would have booked elsewhere, as we wanted to remain at the resort and not have to travel around. The whole point was to relax and unwind. I feel that since they were unable to fulfil a large part of what was promised on the website, we should have received a discount.
Secondly, the treehouse was absolutely OVERRUN with bugs! I know its the rainforest and some bugs are to be expected, but this was too much! I am now covered in mosquito bites, and there were ants in our bed! Ants all over the floor, and I the bathroom. Revolting! If I wanted to deal with insects I would have gone camping! For over $300 pr night I expected better!
The massage was overpriced and not done on the terrace as promised but in the room.
Overall, an overpriced place that promises a lot but does not deliver. We were looking for a place we could escape to every three months or so to relax and destress, but sadly, Patchers is not going to be our go-to place. Would not stay again.
