What an amazing hotel. Minimalist beauty both inside and out. Only the Japanese can get so many details both with the hardware and software right. We enjoyed perhaps the best massage ever, anywhere at the spa. The staff was so well trained and so wonderfully talented. The lobby is achingly beautiful you could just sit and look at it all day. Our room (318) had a view that went for miles, was impeccably clean and everything worked. Topping off all the aesthetic beauty is the genuine caring nature of the staff. The concierge was fantastically helpful as we peppered them with multiple itinerary questions spread out all over the city. Prior to our arrival they had been proactive and assisted us in getting several dinner and lunch reservations. Upon our arrival, a written itinerary awaited us. We were enjoying an anniversary stay, and on our first night, there was a handwritten card, with messages from multiple staff members all over it - not only was it nice but that must have been time consuming. We will return and it is a hotel visit we will not soon forget.

Wow! Can I say it again? Wow! Wow! This hotel is just ridiculously amazing.
I have stayed there for four nights and had two rooms.
The SPA - incredible. Take your time and book a facial or a massage. It is amazing.
The overall service - housekeeping, concierge, dining, in room dining, basically everywhere - superb!
I also enjoyed the afternoon tea at the lobby and the bar at night.
The rooms - beautiful, clean, modern, with perfect blackout shades, and super comfortable beds.
I can't wait to go back. It was just perfect!

Let's start by first saying the staff could not be more friendlier and helpful. They are at your every need from the moment you walk in to the second you leave. The hotel itself is stunning but it's a little bit out of the way and super quite. This has been my second trip back to Japan and to be honest I found the Peninsula just as nice with a much better location. The other thing that truly disappointed me was trying to get a massage. In the few days I was there they where always full all day long. Never had a high end hotel not be able to some how accommodate a massage. While I give this a high rating ,based on the location and quietness of the lobby area I won't be running back to that location but love the Aman properties worldwide

We stayed at Aman Tokyo in Dec 2018 for a couple nights. I love the hotel’s architecture. The lobby’s high ceiling is really gorgeous and and the room is very well designed and spacious. They provide an apple for your hot bath in the room which is very unique. Breakfast was pretty good. We tried the massage and it was expensive but just ok. The only complaint I had was the unfriendly receptionist when we check in and out. I can tell they treat people differently especially if you are not Japanese which is unacceptable for hotel that charge for more than USD 1,000/night.

This was my first visit to an AMAN hotel and I had incredibly high expectations after hearing so many great things about the AMAN hotel group.
Arrival at the hotel was an experience. I adore minimalist design and the lobby of this hotel just blew my mind. I’ve never seen a more gorgeous space in my life - worth visiting if only for the lobby. I arrived early in the morning and the room was ready by 9am and I’d been upgraded to a premier room.
Rooms are huge, perfectly designed and maintained. Note the whole hotel is very crisp, clean and somewhat simple in design so may not suit everyone’s tastes. However the quality of the design is of the highest standard. Views are stunning - even on a bad day. I loved everything in the room from the bathtub at the window, the lounge area and the out of this world bed. Best bed ever. Tokyo struggles to compete with your room I promise you.
The one area I’ve heard AMAN hotels excel in is service. Whilst they certainly exceeded in quality of the hotel I did not find the service to be exceptionally good - I did not find it as good as the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo for example. Everyone was friendly and the early check in was much appreciated but nothing memorable happened to make the service stand out - I wasn’t greeted by name, given a complimentary drink on check-in or asked how my stay was going. First world problems but if I compare this to say Claridges, London, they should do better.
On to the amenities. The pool WOW. That’s all. WOW. I had a hot stone massage which was perfection and the gym was great too.
The breakfast was fab! The American breakfast is vast and high quality. Aside from that my dining experiences at the hotel were quite poor. I had lunch in the lounge but the host would not offer me a window seat despite there being several available. Twice I went to the bar and had champagne and twice the glass was only half-filled (this truly annoyed me) and dinner at Arva was well below standard.
Realize i’m moaning a lot here but this is the most expensive hotel in Tokyo and AMAN has an incredible reputation so my expectations were high.
I would still highly recommend this hotel and gladly come back. It is so visually stunning I couldn’t risk staying anywhere else in Tokyo.
