I just got back from the hotel „Ottavia“ in Rimini. First of all, you should know that this is a budget 2* supp. hotel, so you can’t expect „Ritz“ etc.
„Ottavia“ is a small hotel, containing only 22 rooms, on 3 floors. It’s quite nice for the price you pay. Hotel is placed in a calm part of a town (precisely it’s a part of Rimini called San Giuliano a Mare), just about 60-70 meters from the beach (sunbeds are paid – 18 € per day). But, if you don’t want to pay there is also a so-called „free beach“, you’ll sure find it.
My room was on the third floor, with a small balcony. The rooms are extremely small, so don’t expect much space, but for me, it wasn’t problem, because I spent very few time in the room. Furniture is basic. There is also a TV, but it has only one italian channel, so I suppose it has to be payed to have a cable, or something like that. The thing I disliked most about this hotel is lack of shower cabbin in a bathroom (which is also miniature) – there is only a shower on a wall and that is all, so you have to take a shower in your slippers. I have to say that the room was very clean (cleaned every day). Toilet paper and towels were also changed every day. During the time I was there, it was pretty warm outside, so I need to use air conditioner. It is not included in price, so I had to pay 20 € per week to use it. It’s also one more negative side of the hotel.
I had just breakfast in the hotel restaurant, so I can’t say what was dinner like, but breakfast was very poor. Only some busquits, jam, croissants, that’s it; plus tea/milk/coffee. So, I ate somewhere else (there is a bakery just near the hotel).
One more thing that I had problem with – no one on the reception don’t know english (actually, they know few words), just italian, so our conversation was more like pantomime, but I have to say that all of them were very helpful and willing to solve any problems. Great people!
Location of the hotel is just great – 30 min. walk (5 min by bus) from the railway station and historical center of Rimini. The bus stop (station number 8; bus number 4) is also 5 min walk, so it’s a good choice for those who want to explore something else, beside the beach and sea.
