Nestled in a small village in burgundy, La Cimentelle is probably what you dream about a country home away from home.
We already went twice in less than a month.
The large house and its large park make it a place of choice to rest - we loved the large suite on the second floor with ample spaces, good beds. The whole atmosphere feels very much a private residence, and the spaces are ample enough to accommodate several guests while keeping some privacy.
Swimming pool is very nice - set in an old adjacent building - and surprisingly set on a higher ground.
Food is also a strong magnet in here - both owners seem to genuinely love cooking, and do this at professional level. My other half being in the food business is usually picky and difficult to convince - but we both felt it was genuinely delicious. In six dinners we never had the same, neither were we disappointed. Breakfast is served at the table, with yoghurts, granola, bred and pastries as well as home made fruits salad.
All in all it is a very nice place in burgundy - perfectly set to rest or to wander around the small villages and the forests of Morvan.
We stopped here on our way south. What a delightful place. We had a large, comfortable, slightly eccentric room overlooking the an orchard. We booked to have dinner which was served in the conservatory. It was delicious as was Breakfast. Everything about this place is charming and individual.
Amazing overnight stay in very cosy and warm place. Warm welcome like at relatives’ home and super tasty dinner with local wine, cheese plate !!! Delicious! And chocolate cake :)
Can’t see any downsides :) The family apartment we were given was very big with two bathrooms. Kids were a bit uncomfortable to sleep in separate room in the new place but generally the energy is good and calm. Breakfast amazing with home made yogurt and fantastic granola and mango salad. Loved it!
We needed to leave early in the morning and we were trying to spend few minutes in the beautiful park surrounding the house.
We would love to come back next time.
Please do not mind those terrible reviews as they are absolutely not valid!
Thank you for having us La Cimentelle 🌹
We stayed here in August as a stop over returning to the UK from Italy. We normally stay around Burgundy, most recently in chateau type hotels which have invariably been over priced and rough around the edges. La Cimentelle was a very refreshing change. We had booked dinner which is at a set time, but were running an hour late. Stephan was happy to put dinner aside for us - and what a dinner it was! Excellent cooking, devoid of the fluff that often typifies establishments in this area. several courses were all excellently prepared, tasty and very filling. Dinner is normally served at a communal table, which, being honest, I wasn't in the mood for having been driving all day, but we had our own table as latecomers. It has to be said those all sitting together seemed to be having a great evening with careful and jovial attention by Stephan.
The room we had was relatively small on the top floor but very well decorated and excellent facilities. The house is very pretty set in lovely gardens, lit up with fairy lights at night. I didn't get to see the rooftop pool, but I can see that it would be easy to spend several days here. I would certainly stay again and it definately wins over the chateaus that I have stayed in around here or the overpriced hotels of Beaune.
Above and beyond or expectations! My husband and I lodged here on June 26th. Although our arrival was early evening, we were welcomed and shown to a beautiful room on the first floor (very convenient as I was wearing a boot for a broken ankle). The bed was comfortable and bathroom very modern and updated! We slept with the window open (cool breeze and night). The breakfast the next morning was delicious and all that we required to start our busy day.
