We stayed 4 nights in this masseria.
The Masseria is located in Torre Suda, a few hundred meters away from the sea, at the end of a quiet country road. It is set among fields of olive trees and offers a very quiet and relaxing setting. It is about 15 minutes away from Gallipolli, and you can access some nice lidos in 10 to 15 minutes as well. We found it to be a nice location, far enough from the hustle and bustle, yet close to everything if you have a mean of transportation.
The Masseria is a nice ensemble of old and new, all tastefully blended together. The pool and garden area is simply amazing, with a nice "beachlike" pool overlooking the countryside. There are plenty of sunbeds and areas where you can enjoy the sun or the shade. In the main building, there is a large terrace where you can have a drink or breakfast, and common areas are nice and welcoming. It almost feels like a home away from home (complete with an adorable dog!)
We had booked the turchese suite, which sits at the top of a small tower. The room itself is very simple, with white washed walls, wooden elements and a blue canopy bed. It is quite romantic and speaks of warm summer days. The adjoining bathroom is large, and also very simply decorated, but with nice and design fixtures. One big plus of the room is the large terrace, which has a table with some chairs, as well as two sunbeds and the most wonderful view on olive trees and the sea. It is quite secluded and really felt like our own little corner of paradise.
BREAKFAST & FOOD
Breakfast is served in the common room, or on the terrace depending on the weather. In traditional Italian fashion, there is a good spread of sweets, such as pastries, toast with jam, fruit, yogurts and cakes, but hardly any savoury choices. Coffee is delicious and there is a large choice of juices (industrial but of good quality).
We really enjoyed discussing and interacting with Elisa, who was very kind and always helpful. Upon our arrival, she made us feel welcome and gave us a lot of indications on restaurants, lidos and points of interest around the hotel. Unfortunately, in her absence, other members of the staff were less helpful and seemed a bit disinterested or untrained to take care of guests. Although it did not bother us too much, it unfortunately gave a sense of amateurism, which never happened when Elisa was around.
The masseria is really lovely, but does not come cheap compared to other masserie of similar categories. The property is great, but some efforts should be deployed on service to really get it to the level it aims for.
Very nice masseria, tastefully renovated with a contemporary touch and ideally situated in a great area of Puglia. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to visit again if we go back to this region.
