My husband and I stayed and dived with Raiders in Oct 2019 as part of a 5 week SCUBA vacation in the South Pacific, and this was the highlight of our trip.
As soon as we stepped into the boat and listened to Bob's safety spiel, I felt safe and secure. The boat is in tip top shape, and well organized, just like Bob and Eve.
Site - great little lagoon for snorkeling with giant clams, coral, and all kinds of fish. Fun to watch the local kids paddle by with their makeshift canoes.
Room - simple clean tidy quiet room with comfy beds, a/c & fan. Slept really well.
Food - Really good, and reasonable priced. Good portions, and the only place on our trip that we received balanced meals (carb, protein, salad, fruit)
SCUBA - Amazing! Professional, organized, all equipment in good working order, a mixture of Wreck and Reef dives, some beaches, and an awesome muck dive. Bob and his capable crew took care of all our equipment at the end of each day.
We will find our way back to Tulagi one day.
I don't dive but wanted to visit Tulagi from Honiara and chose to stay at the Raiders.
My stay was perfect: nice room, perfect setting by the water, warm hosts and delicious food. And even if you're not diving or snorkeling, Tulagi and the surrounding islands are a wonder to explore, from fascinating WW2 sites to very hospitable local villages.
Well organised as involved in having 78 divers dive each day as part of SPUMS Conference. They also picked up divers fron the Breakwater Cafe Warf in Honiara. Very well equipped and comfortable dive boat with room for divers to gear up.
Best dive from Honiara
Raiders Hotel and Dive run by Bob and Evie. Highly professional punctual, knowledgeable with all emmergency equiptment inc EPIRB, radio, oxygen and first aid kit on board etc
Twin Lava Tunnels is the best dive we did from Honiara. Black at top but light at bottom. 3m wide. Loads of squirrel fish. Then along deep drop off. Gray Reef Sharks feeding in bait in the blue. Then Black tip and white tip. Then huge marble sting ray feeding. Second dive in Catalina Seaplane. Intact. Could see the guns.
Lovely snorkel on Raiders Hotel house reef. Anemone fish, pipe fish, Dotty backs and clams.
Lunch at Raiders Hotel- delucious squid stir fry and beef stirfty. Menu changes daily.
Would stay here rather than Honiara if returned to dive. Their cafe/ reastaurant deck and beach were spotless with no litter. They also had recycling bins and are really trying to care fir the environment.
I was very, very impressed with Raiders Hotel.
I am a newly qualified diver, and still reasonably nervous, and I would like to thank Bob personally for his encouragement and professionalism around this. Without him, there is no way I would have been able to dive to such amazing wrecks and dive sites. Their equipment is of a high quality and he has a myriad of knowledge about the area.
From the moment I arrived I was welcomed and felt relaxed: the room was lovely and comfortable, and the lounging areas are fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend Raiders Hotel to anyone, and I still think of my stay there many months after (the reason I'm writing this review today!)
Bob and Yvie were excellent hosts and very knowledgeable about the area and history. The rooms were clean and well provisioned with the basic necessities. Aircon was utilised one night to help this little winter bunny cool down!
We had a basic room using the shared bathroom amenities. Amenties were nice, airy and clean. Rooms were on the smaller side, but perfect as we only went there to change and sleep!
Can snorkel, swim (wallow) right beside the main area. Hammocks to read and relax on - ahhhhhhh.
Nama (Bob and Yvie's beautiul dog) escorted on our walking adventures around the island and was greeted by her name by the locals wherever we went.
