Great location but..
Smell of mould throughout - mainly in twin room all childrens teddies and clothes had to be washed once home
Electrical items last PAT test was 2012
TV - tiny and speakers buzzed so loud you couldnt hear it
Garden - over a busy road so therefore un-usable
Generally everything was filthy - each lamp you touched released thousands of flies
Rickety shelves in kitchen
Cobwebs decorated most walls and ceilings.
The windows had bits missing and wouldn't close properly. Not too cosy in the winter i imagine.
Wallpaper peeling off the wall in the dingey shower room.
This was a last minute find. We were two couples and stayed here for 2 nights over the long Easter weekend. The entire property is a delight to watch with all the vintage stuff around. We had booked the two en-suite rooms and both the rooms and the bathrooms were very neat and clean. Breakfast served was nice and hot. We loved our stay here and will definitely come back again.
A party of 6 of us stayed for one night in November 2016. We informed the owners that we would be arriving around 2-3pm. Two of our party arrived at 3pm to find there was no-one around therefore they had to go to a nearby pub whilst they waited. Once the rest of us arrived we were welcomed by our friends, not the owners who were nowhere to be seen. We had 2 double rooms and one twin. The bathroom for the twin room was not an en-suite but appeared to be the owners' personal bathroom and it was absolutely filthy. The sink was full of toothpaste stains and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The cold tap also didn't work so we had to clean our teeth using hot water, not nice! Thankfully as we were staying for only 12 hours or so, we did not need to shower. The rooms were very cold and due to all of the clutter in the house, were also very dusty and generally unclean. We had called ahead to request an early breakfast as the 6 of us were running 24 miles in the Yorkshire Dales that day. This request was not met with enthusiasm by the owner although reluctantly she agreed to provide something. The next morning we were met (for the first time) by the owner who appeared in her dressing gown to serve us some tea and cereal. Very poor, basic service. Everything seemed to be too much trouble for this owner. Given that they charged £80 per room, that's a nice profit for not a lot of effort at all. There was also a small dog yapping and running around which was disturbing. We couldn't have been happier to leave that morning. We will not be staying again.
We stayed here for one night while walking in the beautiful Yorkshire dales. This is a family run b&b in one of the prettiest villages in England. The family were very friendly and welcoming, the beds amazingly comfortable and the roll top bath in the en suite very much appreciated after a long day out walking.
But the most interesting thing about the house, apart from the fabulous decor is that is is groaning with the most fascinating antiques and collectables. The breakfast was served in the beautifully decorated dining room, and the eggs form their own hens were absolutely delicious.
We thought it was great value for money and we would highly recommend this hidden gem. We certainly plan to return
We stayed in the Nunnery for 3 nights from 25/3/16 cost £324 (£25 for taking dog)
Lovely location, stream across the road and 5 min walk to a gorgeous waterfall.
Lovely walks from the doorstep, a village pub 5 min walk, serves food till 8.30 pm.
Had a superb meal at the Aysgarth falls hotel.
Accommodation disappointing, no welcome treats on offer. A few packs of free range eggs were on sale in a plastic container on the wall outside. No complementary toiletries in bathroom.
Hot water tap in bathroom sink not working, we reported this on our first morning, nothing was done. My husband had to use the washing up bowl from the kitchen in order to shave. The plug didn't fit the sink either, so impossible to fill the bathroom sink.
Very dated, dull soft furnishings. All windows in the bedroom and lounge painted shut, so impossible to let in any fresh air. Very worn, tired, grimy lino on kitchen floor, in need of replacing or lots of elbow grease and a good scrub.
Pillows floppy and lifeless, had to use cushions under the pillows to offer any sort of support. Quilt on the bed lacked quality. Old fashioned bedding.
We had a fair bit of rain during our stay which highlighted a leak in the roof, at the top of the staircase. Lots of unnecessary tat and junk cluttering the property, came in handy as we used a vase to catch the rainwater dripping from the roof!
Accommodation felt cold all weekend due to inefficient storage heating. There was an electric oil filled radiator, which was very much needed.
To sum up, an uncomfortable stay. We were very glad to get home. We would visit the location again but most definitely NOT in this accommodation. Poor value for money
