Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Philippines165 contributions79 helpful votesSaw this property on IG and decided to give it a try. I made a mistake thinking that the one I saw on instagram is the same room that I booked for, unfortunately, the room that I got was part of the old section of the property. Not that bad, but I felt that with the rates I paid for, I should have gotten something better. The newly developed part of the resort definitely has better rooms and is closer to the beach and with a better pool. Would comeback next time and would make sure to stay at the new area. Food was ok and customer service needs some work. I complained about the air conditioner thats not working properly and yet one of the attendants were saying over and over again that its not broken yet we're sweating and its not cooling the room properly and we requested for a fan. Also had to change towels everyday coz the towels smell weird.

Granted, this place is such a far drive from Manila, but for the price, I thought the place was exceptional. My family rented out 3 beach villas and one tree house. The villas were a little to close to each other, which turned out great for us as we were in a family reunion event, although I could see how this may not workout for strangers. The rooms were comfortable and clean. They provide amenities, including toothbrushes. Each villa also had a small regrigerator and television is only in the living room, none in the bedrooms. There is a small balcony outside each beach front villa, although the ocean view is hindered by concrete walls (not too high, but it would've been great without the walls and guests could take just a few steps into the beach).
The resort offers massages for P800 (the masseuses are not in house, they call them to come over as scheduled by the guest). There is one restaurant where you dine indoor with air-conditioning or outdoors. My family ate each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the resort. Fairly priced and fair servings. They urge guests to order in advance since food prep takes about an hour (or maybe that's just for us since we were a party of 30).
The pool is big and there is also a big jacuzzi. There is parking but it is not within the facility no is it where drop-off is, which I thought was rather odd. At least, it's secured with a security person manning it 24/7.
Wifi works only in the dining area (slow) and the main office (better).
There are several Nipa hut lounges at the beachfront for guests to enjoy, at no extra charge. Kayaks are also available, free of charge.
The worst part of our trip was the tidal movement. It was purely low tide when we came, and we had trekked what felt like half a mile into the beach and it was still at knee level. It was rocky underwater, wore flipflops the entire time.

I have been in puerto del sol resort for a three days two nights weekend. As many of the reviews say we also enjoyed the 50% off fare which at this point I believe it is just a marketing idea. Official fare was 9,000php/night for a maisonette room. We go it for 4,500php/night. With these fares considering that it is in the province you would expect high level experience.
Good:
Resort is clean and well kept
Pools are nice. The infinity pool view of the beach is very nice
The facilities in general are of a good level
BAD:
rooms are not cleaned every day which is not acceptable for this fare and resort level
Wifi is zero (even if not depending on the management as i read in an answer to a feedback.... well...then anyway this should be said before booking and reflected in the fare)
Food quality is quite poor
Last call for dinner is 8.30pm
Breakfast last call is 9.00am (c'mon...it is a holiday place not an hospital!!!!)
They ask you to choose dinner menu at 6pm and at 8.30pm you must be at the restaurant. When we arrived even before bringing our drinks they asked us if we have last call or dessert request as kitchen was going to close!
Bread and rice have been bought both nights at the end of the dinner! Cmooon guysss!!!
Even if very kind and gentle the staff is not sensitive to guests needs as we had to follow up basically each of our requests
No electric kettle available. They give you hot water in the evening. Imagine how cold it was our coffee in the morning?
Shower has just the usual cheap plastic curtain
Time of delivery for drinks at the pool are geological
Coffe at breakfast buffet is terrible
At the end after two nights we paid 3,300php extra for dinners. So a two nights three days stay costed us all-in all almost 13k php. Well....way too much for the kind of service that was provided.

Ever since, we are curious of Bolinao. We search for a place to stay thru internet and we have found Puerto Del Sol. Good thing, they were on 50% sale and we immediately grab the opportunity to experience its beauty and serenity based on the comments and pictures at Tripadvisor. It's a 6 hour drive from Clark to Bolinao. As soon as we reached the place, we hurried up to the front desk to check in for a room since they don't book in advance. No online booking also. It's a first come, first serve basis. Chances are if it's fully booked either you go to another place or go home again after such a long travel. The place was really nice. We stayed in one of their mansion villas which is good about 2-4 pax. Their service was good. The buffet breakfast was ok. We love their pizza.

Went for a few days with the loved one, we had a nice time; everything was cozy. The staff were very helpful and the room was nice. Just what we were looking for-for our down time weekend before getting back to work.
