Looking for JAPOW and having explored Niseko and Nagano before we decided to give it a try. The hotel is a big hotel rather than a lodge for those who may be used to smaller places. Customer service was great, rooms were spotless, well cleaned, and big. We had a great view of the slopes. Loved having a small kitchenette. Onsen was great, separate men’s and women’s sides. Gym was terrible (it’s only a tiny room maybe 1x6 metres with hardly any resistance equipment. See photo), no club lounge BUT they allow elite members to use a special section of the bar by the restaurant and provide a free menu of items (see photo) that you can order as many of as you want. The service was friendly and fast initially, but follow up service is a bit slower. Breakfast was great and lots of options. We had dinner at the buffet 3 nights and it was good, lots of nice seafood and great to have crab legs - well worth the price. Ski lockers downstairs are good, and having a Seven Eleven near the front of the hotel makes getting snacks convenient. You have to walk from here about 200m to a ski lift, but that only takes you to a slightly higher area, from there you have to walk to other lifts. Not a particularly snowboard friendly set up. Definitely not ski in/ski out. Other options are taking the monorail from inside the hotel across the road to the other side of the mountain which requires less walking but it’s REALLY slow. Once on the mountain the runs are small and over pretty quick but the runs through the trees and side-pisting in the deep pow are loads of fun.

Lots of good things which most people have already mentioned. Staff were great, and GM greeted us (we are newly Bonvoy Platinum). Nice lounge snacks. Upgraded to a top floor 5 bed room. Monorail a bit of a hassle with skis I imagine, but not essential. Access to nice new onsen in Resort side. Also a fun wave pool for kids. Westin fitness tiny. Golf is the main attraction outside the ski season. We had a good off-season/COVID rate, but gets pricey in winter.

The room is very clean and quiet, mattress is super comfortable and the room is very big with awesome view. Been there 3 times already and has become my favourite hotel. Food quality is excellent and you can also choose to eat at Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention (there is a free monorail train connecting it to Westin Rusutsu) which is excellent for buffet dinner and kids activities. The golf courses there are also awesome, especially the wood course and the river course.

We had five nights at the Westin. The location is fantastic. Grab your skis from the locker and walk outside into the snow. Or catch the monorail to the other resort and ski at night. Wonderful views, big rooms, helpful and friendly staff. You can charge everything back to your room, including at the other resort (take your room details with you). There's a good mix of skiing available. It is a ski in/out hotel, and you pay for that privilege, but it's value for money. The free shuttle from Sapporo is good too.
The onsen is great. It was my second time to an onsen and I'm learning to really enjoy them.

Nice hotel , excellent service, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast also excellent. The Onzen are amazing place for relaxing after skiing with indoor and outdoor view to the snowy mountain. The Japanese Restaurant is also nice for dinner with excellent taste and fresh sashimi. We try their teppanyaki this is so super yummy

Questions & answers about the rooms

Answer from Richard Koh

Hi Crystal, You may contact Orbitz directly and explain your situation. Do take note if they can help you to change to a different date and the cost of the room is higher you have to pay the differences. It is pretty standard. However if the cost of room is lower you have to ask Orbitz what they can offer you, e.g. refund to you in crediting your account etc. Wish you all the best!

Yes, two large wardrobes on the lower level, with plenty of space, but no drawers. The pull down beds are very comfortable too.

Dear nylecoj78, Thank you for your inquiry. There are two murphy beds in the living room but they are closed if you don't use them. They are hidden in the wall, so you don't notice where the beds are. We hope this information helps and look forward to welcoming you near future. Until then be well. The Westin Rusutsu Resort
