Excellent service by the staffs at the Escape Kottai Resort, which is a prooerty managed by Live Grand Hotels, also a Oyo affiliation property as on Jan 2020.

Excellent location, just 850 meters from Yercaud Lake, its a Valley View property, with balcony in the West, ideal to watch the sun set. Early mornings are amazing from the balcony too, as you see the sun rays fall on the mist around the valley, which slowly unwinds as the sun rises. Beautiful view!

The property has got a mini gym, swimming pool, sauna, table tennis, billiards and carrom for entertainment and relaxing. It has got a small grass garden if you have kids and like to play some ball games. Property has a seperate Yoga room too, havent seen any classes conducted during my stay.

Rooms are spacious, which can easily accommodate three adults at comfort, bath was clean, only catch was running hot water intermittently turns cold when in shower, makes you wonder why!! They use a solar heating mechanism, with controls for each room, havent explored beyond this, so care to check when you book.

Rooms are at ground, -1, and -2, all thr rooms are equally good. Property has separate cliff rooms too, which stands on a concrete pillar, and really a cliff feeling. Balcony in those rooms are open to a cliff, and great option for couples to unwind.

Seperate tower next to the swimming pool houses the Sauna and few rooms, which gives you a Palace armoury or lookout tower like feeling, rooftop of this tower is extraordinary for a evening catchup with friends with some mint tea or cocktails.

They also arrange campfire in the property everyday evening after 7pm, which is good, may choose based on wind. Yes wind is high at this property, sometimes its breeze. Wind is also a reason for multiple power cuts, and generator will be switched on after the request, note intercomm doesn't work when no electricity. So walk to the reception if you need any help.

Food was good, breakfast was excellent, never had lunch at this property, multiple dinners which was good too. Kottai Special Chicken was better than all other menu items. Food is on the expensive side too. Every dish can be a 50 to 60 rupee less that what it is today.

Staffs overall asy first line in this review were extremely helpful.

Stayed here early Dec 2019 for a night. The Resort has about 28+ rooms and when I went there were only 3-4 rooms full. As a result they are not too motivated to keep the full staff and full buffet. The room itself was ok. Absolutely no running hot water. After complaining they came and checked and ran the taps for atleat 15 mins or so but still no hot water. Just some lukewarm water. in the morning again same story. This time they did not even bother to work on it. So, I asked them to get me hot water in a bucket since my mother in law was with us and she wanted to take shower before we checked out. We never got any hot water from them. Poor lady, she took the cold water shower in that december cold. I had requested for a 3rd bed (had paid for it). They set it up on the FLOOR!!!!!. They dont have a cot!. And they forgot to give me a comforter. I did get a blanket which I was not feeling really clean. (just my feelings though). The kitchen was ok. Food was good. Even though the breakfast was included, it was all entrae based. No bufffet. The lunch and dinner also same story. But cant complain. I think I paid INR4500 for 3 ppl for a room with BF and I guess I will get what I pay for. The view from the balcony was beautiful though. Never used any other acitivity facilities. Nothing more to do here as this resort is very small. The city is very close and you can walk to the center of the city if you get bored. If you dont know Tamil, you are pretty much dead as the guys workng here dont speak any other language than Tamil and few speak full/broken english. No bar. Carry your own alcohol if you want to drink.

The stay @ Kottai was one to cherish, the valley facing triple occupancy room had a scenic view from it's balcony. The room size and decor reminded us of the old British era cottages. The service was prompt and the staff was friendly. Limited food menu was the only low point of an otherwise satisfactory stay. The bond fire coupled with the music in the evenings made it quite enjoyable for all of us.
