This hotel really is a peaceful and elegant oasis situated on the Palm Jumeirah. The scenery is gorgeous, the staff are really fabulous and the restaurants are superb. The rooms are stunning, modern and very comfortable, some with private pools available. To sit on the terrace in the evening, with a cocktail, looking out at the beautiful view is absolute heaven. However, the pro is also the con. There is peace and quiet but you do have to travel to reach the mainland - but we think this hotel is worth it. My favorite hotel in the world!
(Grosvenor House Hotel) This is a must for anyone visiting Dubai. Lively with superb Asian food and brilliant service. There is live music which seems to suit everyone, as it seems to attract people from all age groups. Try to book as it is very popular.
(Souk Madinet Complex) Trader Vic's cocktails and snacks are fabulous and being within the Souk Madinet complex it is the perfect place to go after a few hours shopping in the Arab market. They are very good at making cocktails to order, if you have a particular favorite that isn't on the menu.
Fabulous place situated in the Atlantis hotel. Make a night of it, go early and sit at the bar, try the nibbles and the cocktails. They're different and the cocktail waiters are great to watch. Such beautiful food and so much choice. The waiters are very knowledgable and will guide you through the choices. It's very easy to order too much or too little, so it is worth taking their advice. The Chef is in view and quite fascinating to watch on your first visit. End your evening with a coffee in the lounge.
(At The One and Only Palm Hotel) I love this Yannick Alleno restaurant. Wonderful French Food! We've eaten here a lot and it's always been really superb. The decor is dramatic and elegant with beautiful black chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The staff are the best, simply brilliant. Their knowledge is perfect as is their service and the food really is absolutely stunning. A rather unique touch is the Pastry Library where you can 'invent' your own dessert perfection. It's difficult, but do leave space for that dessert.
Really convenient Arabic themed market for anyone staying at the Jumeirah end of Dubai. Loads of stalls to buy 'take home' gifts. The Souk is surrounded by a beautiful, quite large Venetian type waterway that has gondolas drifting up and down. Great for a little boat trip and quite romantic, especially in the evenings when the fairy lights appear. Fabulous picture views of the Burj al Arab too so don't forget your camera. The waterways are surrounded by a huge amount of restaurants and bars so there is a plenty of choices for food and drinks.
Gary Rhodes best! (Royal Meridien Beach Hotel) Steaks, burgers and fries with a twist. Stunning food and gorgeous decor. Every mouthfull is heaven but again, greed takes over and it's easy to over order so take the waiters advice.
(Grosvenor House Hotel) We only discovered this restaurant last year. We thought the Embassy was purely a nightclub but to our surprise, we found a really excellent restaurant with fabulous food, fabulous service with a stunning view over Dubai. The food is really good, the tables large and comfortable but best of all is the service. Knowledgable and friendly with absolutely no stuffiness.
(The Burj al Arab) THE original place to go in Dubai. You must visit this hotel - just to say you've been there. The Skyview Bar is a great way to see it and it does do some rather fantastic cocktails too! You absolutely have to book. Try a fabulous tea or best (in my opinion) a Sunset Cocktail. The cocktails are amazing, the views are great (when it's clear) but the hotel itself is an experience, with giant aquariums, stunning fountains and gold decor. This is the ship shaped hotel that is always displayed as a symbol of Dubai.
Iconic hotel and the world wide symbol that depicted Dubai. Suite only hotel which employs a fleet of white Rolls Royces to ferry their guests back and forth. It does have some excellent restaurants. The Al Mahara is a particularly good seafood restaurant which has a giant aquarium in the centre. Very nice food but quite pricey. An amazing hotel to see.
Futuristic and fabulous. The roads get really busy so take the opportunity to try the Metro.
The fantastic dancing fountains are at the far end of the Dubai Mall and are well worth visiting. They are stunning. A comfortable way to see them is to secure yourself a table at one of the cafes by the fountains and sit and watch as the music starts and the fountains leap hundreds of feet into the air. Get the video ready!
Old Dubai meets new Dubai. Loads of different boat trips are available including evening dinner cruises. Visit the old Arabian Dubai, it's incredibly interesting and you will find museums and culture you probably don't associate with the modern city.
(Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah) A lovely romantic restaurant that serves excellent seafood including lobster and crab. Sitting at the end of a pier and overshadowed by the stunning Burj al Arab this is a beautiful evening venue. Request a table on the terrace if it's not too hot and you'll have the most beautiful views over the ocean.
Superb hotel situated on the edge of Dubai Marina. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are lovely and extremely comfortable. There is a choice of standard or Club Level rooms. Club Level being in tower two. The hotel has a nightclub and some superb restaurants attached and is within walking distance of all of the restaurants and boat trips along the Marina. It is a really nice hotel but is not on the beach. It does have two small swimming pools and runs a complimentary bus for guests, back and forth to its beachside sister hotel the Royal Meridien.
This place has changed massively. It used to be little and basic. Now it's a super modern, super professional skydive centre. The staff are great fun and professional and seem to put everyone at their ease. The skydive is done over the Palm Jumeirah and each client can purchase a really worth while and professionally edited CD of their jump. I have managed to get my husband 'dropped' out of the plane several times now and have a wonderful collection of CDs and he still goes back for more!
We loved this. If you've never seen a 'real' desert you'll find this amazing. We booked our trip through the hotel and picked an option with an evening feast. The 'dune bashing', in very comfortable air conditioned land rovers, was quite hair raising but so much fun and the dinner, complete with belly dancers was great. The food was Arabic and excellent.
We've done various cruises in Dubai and found dinner cruises to be one of the best ways to see the evening sights. Our dinners have always been really good, with loads of food and drink. We've always found the company good and have learnt quite alot. The only negative was being on a coach to and from the boat. The driver was late picking us up, which was a pain. WE may have been unlucky but If you have a choice, I would suggest a taxi!
(The DUBAI Mall) The most amazing shopping mall you will ever see. Every shop you could want. Standard supermarkets to top end designer boutiques. You can buy everything. Very modern with superb facilities. There are various attractions throughout the centre, aquarium, little zoo and such like and there are plenty of bistros, restaurants and cafes. It is also situated right by the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) and sells the tickets to travel up the tower (if you've got the head for heights required)
(Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort) If you want excellent Arab food, tents, cushions and shishas this is the perfect place. An outdoor (complete with massive fans) and picturesque beachside Arab restaurant. We've been going for years and it never disappoints, the food has always been consistantly good.
(Grosvenor House Hotel) One of my favorite bars in Dubai. On the 44th floor of the Grosvenor House Hotel - giving you a lovely view of the city. I like to 'test' cocktails, alot! And I think Bar 44 makes some of the best in Dubai. Often playing bluesy music, this is the perfect place for a pre or post dinner drink. Smoking and non smoking tables available.
A fabulous hotel with really excellent Club facilities, restaurants and newly upgraded accomadation. The Ritz-Carlton has been established in its present position for many years and it shows in its superb, beautiful and extensive gardens, waterfalls and pools and private beach. Perfect hotel for the sun worshipper. Leave the hotel and you are immediately on 'The Walk', a lively waterfront promenade in Jumeirah Beach. Packed full of restaurants and shops. The one drawback is the amount of traffic that can build up as it heads to 'The Walk'.
Loads of restaurants and cafe bars. Sit and watch the world go by. Some shops including a supermarket.
(Hilton Hotel Jumeirah) One of the best Italian restaurants we've found in Dubai. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. Advance booking is advised as it is popular. Like the Ritz-Carlton, the Hilton Jumeirah sits on 'The Walk'. Perfect for a stroll, coffee and watching the world walk by.
(Armani Hotel) Restaurant and bar in the Burj Khalifa, reached through the Armani Hotel. We visited once. We weren't over impressed although it is definatey worth seeing such an amazing piece of architecture. The standards of staff are general high in Dubai but we found the Armani rather lacking. The bar and restaurant are on the 122nd floor which is reached by super fast lift. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar, which were very good and admired the view. It is a good view but maybe just a bit too high. Its rather like looking down from an aeroplane opposed from a building. Dinner was OK, not superb. We werent given our correct pre booked table originally and this is the only place in Dubai ever, to get our bill wrong. We were over charged and extra drinks had been added to our bill. Maybe just a bad night but bad enough to stop us returning.
(Atlantis The Palm) A very beautiful seafood restaurant. You are surrounded by a stunning aquarium. A special and a little more formal place to go. The food is excellent and the service is too but one of the nicest things, is the space between tables. No one is sitting 'on your shoulder'. If you like seafood, this is a restaurant you should definately visit.
