An inexpensive excursion (I believe just $3-4 to enter) close the hotel zone that will not require a whole day to see like Chichen Itza. It's peaceful and well preserved with many iguanas sunning on the temples.
Absolute must for Sunday buffet! Very reasonable price for an impressive buffet of International and Mexican brunch specialties. Lovely lagoon view seating if you get early ask for a table near the lagoon.
Unpretentious fun family friendly restaurant with good food and ambience. Reasonably priced and relaxing. The kids enjoyed the music and watching the sunset with our toes in the sand.
Friendly, fun, good tacos and a decent price, casual walk up seating.
Healthy and something for everyone on the menu. Located by the nightclub area but peaceful and good for kids.
If you come to Cancun you must go to Chichen Itza. If not, your trip is incomplete. This Maya-Toltec site will take an entire day to travel to and explore but totally worth it.
Gorgeous beach on the far end of the hotel zone. Nice facilities, clean and worth a visit.
A wonderful day trip that doesn't have to be expensive. Leave from Playa Tortugas on the ferry. There are so many things to do you will easily fill a day exploring from the north to the south of the island.
A smaller shopping mall with a large grocery store (Soriana) upstairs. This is a godsend for budget travelers especially if you have a kitchen in your timeshare or hotel. The stores had a good selection of reasonably priced souvenirs without the aggressive hawking found in other places. There was also a nice sports store where we purchased rash guards for the kids at a good price.
