How to Choose Your Favorite Review

Available for Tripadvisor Premium subscribers, the Favorite Review feature allows you to spotlight what makes your restaurant special.

As a restaurant owner, you are best-equipped to tell diners what sets your restaurant apart. For Tripadvisor Premium subscribers, we’ve made it easy to highlight a review of your choice with Favorite Review.

Once you select your Favorite Review, it will appear in the second position of the Reviews section of your profile. In this way, you can control which review potential diners see first.

But since you only can choose one, how do you choose which review to feature?

Which Reviews Are Eligible for Favorite Review?

When you use the Favorite Review selection tool, you might notice some reviews are missing. This is because not every review is eligible to be a Favorite Review. To be eligible for a Favorite Review, the review must be less than a year old and have at least three bubbles. That way, you’re showcasing current opinions of the best you have to offer.

How to Choose Your Favorite Review

When you’re selecting your Favorite Review, keep these things in mind:

Choose a Positive Review

This might seem obvious, but you should choose from your highest bubble ratings — you can filter when searching within the tool — so that you’re only surfacing the very best of what your diners have to say. This is your chance to influence the conversation about your restaurant, so make it a positive interaction.

Choose an Enthusiastic Review

Your Favorite Review should have potential diners saying to themselves, “I have to go there!” You should find not only a positive review in terms of bubble rating, but also in how they describe your restaurant. Look for exclamation points and words like “great,” “amazing,” “terrific,” “fantastic,” and other positive terms that go beyond “good.”

Choose a Recent Review

Diners value recent reviews more since it’s the best snapshot of what your restaurant experience is like right now. Your Favorite Review expires after a year, so make sure to refresh your choice on a regular basis.

Choose a Review That Summarizes Your Experience

More than anything, choose a review that captures what it’s like to eat at your restaurant. You’ll want to find a review that talks about as many aspects of your restaurant as possible: the food, the service, the atmosphere, the location, and any amenities you offer.

Ultimately, you’ll want to choose a review that captures what you want to be known for. Are you a local watering hole, everyone’s favorite date night, or something in between? Look for the reviews that really nail what you’re all about — those will be the best ones to feature.

Choose Reviews in Multiple Languages

If diners visit your restaurant from all over the world and leave reviews in their native language, you can choose a Favorite Review in each eligible language. This way, you’ll be able to show off your best features — no matter where in the world someone is visiting from.

Where Your Favorite Review Appears

Your Favorite Review displays as the second review in the Reviews section, right after your most recent review. A small green box will show in the right hand corner that says, "Restaurant's Favorite."

How to Edit Your Favorite Review

  1. Log in to your Management Center. If you’re not already a Premium subscriber, you’ll need to upgrade your account.
  2. Choose “Select Favorite Review” under the “Reviews” tab.
  3. From there, you can search your reviews by bubble rating, keyword, and more to narrow down your choices. Once you’re ready to select your Favorite Review, click the green “Select” button on the top right of the review. It should appear on your Tripadvisor page within the next 24 hours.
  4. Repeat step 3 and step 4 for each eligible language by toggling the “Select a Language to See Eligible Reviews” tab on the top left of your screen.
  5. When you're ready, click the orange "Publish" button below your selected review.
