I think you should go somewhere else to do your open water, as you need AOW to go deep to see the thresher sharks. Personally i had an amazing time doing my AOW course there, it was amazing and the instructors are all experts especially the locals.

hello!

TSD is an amazing shop.. although a little pricy, it's hands down the most professional I have been to. I must warn you however, that the diving in malapascua is pretty boring (it's all sand and too little to see) except for the thresher sharks.. since you are doing your owd course you can't see the sharks.. so in my opinion you should save the place for a time when you are an AoW diver to really enjoy it

in all honesty, I've not been to balicasag so I can say l, but you should check how deep the famous dive sites are. anything up to 18 metres is the max they'll take you anyway

hope this helps!
