This may sound an odd question but just packing to go- what is provided by hotel such as towels, hairdryer etc?
American hotels always have soap, towels and, perhaps unknown to Europeans, small wash cloths. Nearly all provide shampoo and conditioner, but not necessarily the kind one prefers. The less expensive the hotel, the fewer of those amenities are provided. Shower caps seem less common than they once were. Often there are small emery boards, cotton balls and cotton swabs, sometimes shoe-polishing cloths. Toilet paper and paper handkerchiefs. If there's a coffeemaker, coffee, sometimes tea bags, sugar and usually powdered "creamer", occasionally the real thing or an artificial version thereof. Hair dryers are increasingly common, and avoid the necessity of a current converter and a different electrical plug, but at the lower end of the price spectrum, sometimes they aren't found. And sometimes they aren't where you'd expect - I've found them in closets, for instances. Some hotels are now providing irons and ironing boards. You can always email a hotel and ask about specifics, of course.
Towels, hair dryer, soap, shampoo/conditioner/hand lotion. My room had a kitchen with a coffeemaker, plus packets of coffee and cream/sugar, a small set of pans and dishes.
