Yes. It may look far but actually very well doable. Take eg the Lion gate, go to Getsemaneh and directly behind Getsemaneh on the right hand side a road goes straight up to Mt Olive with the fantastic views.

Yes! You can!

just exit the Old City through the Lions Gate, walk along the road to the Mary's Tomb and climb the road in front of it. 20 mins by feet to reach tha top of the Olives' Mount!

Enjoy!

If you are going to walk up the mount from the city you will need to be fit it is quite steep, the usual way is from the mount going down to the city is much easier, and you can visit the garden on the way and church of all nations this is much easier that way make sure you have a good pair of sneakers with good grip as the path can get slippery.

You can also got to the lions gate which is a little closer than Robinson’s arch. As you are facing the Temple Mount, go down the mount of olives and it’s to the right of the east gate!
