We will be visiting Helsinki on a Sunday. Is it possible to attend the church service that day or will we have to wait until the service is over before we can enter? We are of the Lutheran faith and we would like to attend if possible.
Fair question! Official Helsinki web page gives following answer: "Closed during church ceremonies and events."
I would recommend to contact tourist office to get detailed information. Good luck
Mass is celebrated at 10 o’clock on Sunday. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday there is a short prayer at noon in English.
I imagine any church would welcome someone to their service provided you were respectful and weren't trying to take photos during the service.
It is one thing to attend and be involved in the service, quite another to intrude as a tourist.
I am Sure you will be welcome.
Yes there is a mess on Sunday at 10-11.30. You are free to join that if you want. I hope you will enjoy!
Generally church services in Finland are down to earth and open for everyone. Therefore just open the door and sit in the bench.
I'm sure you will be welcomed. Maybe your hotel can give you the hours? The singing sounds great.
I am very sure anyone can attend services...and it will be a great experience...I bet.
You can enter the church really well any time when it is open.
I don't know but imagine all of faith welcome
