There are a lot of nice resturants nearby each offering tourist menu's. One we visited was the Ritz just across the road. Also there are some good places to eat on the front, one we particularly enjoyed was Grand Café Penha D'Águia.

Hi Welshcat,

As Marg said they are comparable to the UK, maybe a bit cheaper but the high end bars and restaurants are a bit pricier. Food is cheap especially if you do the widely available Concept Menu. I'd agree with the recommend for Cris's.

Hi welshcat. We didn't notice too much but think they were around comparable to the UK. Some we thought were taking the mickey and others were more sensible prices. You would need to check their menus, have a look at TA's Restaurants section above. One place that really stood out for us was Chris Restaurant which was a shortish car ride up the hill to, I think the Lido district. Our hotel booked for us and the restaurant arranged a car service from and to the Hotel Madeira at no extra cost (lovely 1967 Merc). The price of the dinner was 37.50 euro for 5 courses including drinks with each course. One of the best meals I have ever had. We went there twice.
