First the good--room was nice with balcony. Staff were great! Room attendant very nice, Bartenders were awesome! Ship was clean, many activities. Shows (History of Flight, Hiro ) were awesome! First day and last day embarking and disembarking went well. Now the bad---Food was lousy! Windjammer buffet mediocre at best. Variety wasn't bad. Chicken dry, lunch meats not as good as Oscar Meyer, deserts dry almost stale tasting. Breakfast lousy, scrambled eggs tasted like "EggBeaters", fried eggs bad, grits watery, not many pastries. Park Cafe breakfast sandwiches had one tiny bit of ham that didn't cover half an English muffin, ciabatta sandwich cold in the middle, milk warm.Dinners were totally inconsistent. Pay extra for "specialty" seafood at Hooked. Food no better than Red Lobster. Main dining room inconsistent. Shrimp cocktail was laughable. 4 little shrimp smaller than my pinkie finger. Strip steak small 1/2 in. thick and not very good. You can taste the MSG. Some dishes were excellent and some bad every time we dined there! Restaurants closed often. Never saw one crew member the entire cruise, just staff. On board app didn't work half the time. Had to sign in to wifi portal every time we tried to use the app. Overall very disappointed with Royal Caribbean.

I can understand where the 5* and 3* & below reviewers are coming from. Symphony is a huge and very impressive ship, it is well maintained and has some amazing facilities / spaces. Pros Great fun, impressive and varied shows, Hiro and Hairspray were stand out, as long as you are organised and book in advance you will get to see the shows you want Loads of things to do, no matter what time of day, especially for our kids, from the Flowriders to Rock climbing to Ice-skating The crew were obsessed with service (actually receiving good scores in the post cruise questionnaires) hence it sometimes felt a little insincere but ultimately the service we received was very good Ship was very clean generally, especially the public rest rooms, although we did see a few unwelcome creepy crawly residents on deck at night Cabin was always cleaned and tidied immaculately, we had no problem with the once a day service, our cabin attendant was excellent, just really friendly and helpful Always found food available when we wanted it and mostly it was decent quality, the choice in the main dining room seemed a bit more restricted than I remember on RC but there was always something that we could eat on the menu and we enjoyed the vast majority of it. Central Park is a lovely quiet and relaxed area Ports were excellent, giving us the opportunity to visit some great places, Palma, Aix, Pisa, Rome, Pompeii. Cons Too many people onboard for me, it felt like there were queues everywhere, Windjammer especially, where on occasion we had to hovver waiting for people to finish so we could take their table, after having walked around the whole restaurant looking for space. Appreciate the buffets can be v busy on RC ships but this felt on another level. It was also tough to get seats in the popular bars at night due to each venue just being too small, standing room only at Bolero’s and On Air. The main dining room tables were very close together in our area, the waiters literally had to squeeze past us. We also had a problem with a clearly rather unwell guest being seated near us, this was addressed to our satisfaction by the head waiter The Royal Promenade was buzzing every night but it was often blocked by 100’s maybe 1000’s of people enjoying the entertainment that was being held slap bang in the middle of the main thoroughfare of the ship. Why it was organised like this, only RC will be able to tell you, but it was v popular hence the problem. The v loud entertainment on the Royal Promenade went on until between 11.45pm and 12.15am each night, then it did quieten down but if you have a Promenade View inside opposite Bolero’s you will still hear music noise through to at least 1am. Great cabins for party animals but not if you want an early night, the offset is that the cabins were a great size and are quiet in the mornings/during the day. On the sea day you had to be up early’ish to get, a sunbed and be prepared to bump elbows with people sunbathing a few inches from you, as a lot of the beds are tied down with rope and hence unmovable. Also, we didn’t find a children allowed quiet sunbathing area, all the sunbeds were around the main pool areas. If you don’t have a drinks package buying alcoholic drinks individually is expensive $7.99 for a beer and $14 for a cocktail both + 18% service charge + 10% tax Conscious there seem to be more cons than pros but we worked around them and with the possible exception of the noisy cabin they didn’t fundamentally affect our holiday hence the 4* rating & our kids are already asking if we can go again next year, they would give it 5* for sure.

Omg this was our first time on this ship and loved every single time,I have done other cruises as well. We had a balcony over looking central park. Room was a good size as well. Food in the windjammer which is the buffet can be a hit and a miss. We ate a lot at the dinning in the restaurant. Staff were nice and friendly. Johnny rockets does a breakfast which is included. We didn't have the drinks package we just ordered a few cocktails and paid at the end of the holiday. We had the soda package. There are drinks machines in a few areas of the ship. You also get the soft drinks at the bar. A couple of the shows were good, but others were excellent. Hiro at the aqua theatre is amazing, the 1977 the ice skating show is really good as well. Joe the comedian was really good as well. Pool areas were good. Live band at the pool every day, also a dj at the pool every day. We did laser tag as well which was included and it was fun. Live bands were really good as well. They have different dress up options each night. The app is really good. You can book the shows through the app or wait until you board the ship. Check in and check out was really easy. Will definitely be back on a royal carribean ship
