Only our third cruise and it was really wonderful. 7 days out of San Juan PR among the U.S. and British Virgin Islands as well as St. Maarten and Montserrat. Crew and staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The cruise really took on a different feel from the larger ships as you become familiar with fellow travelers and staff. The room was large and very comfortable. Food was terrific. One downside for me was that the ship rolled pretty noticeably with the swells we experienced. My wife was fine but I wound up taking motion sickness pills some nights when the ship left port as did some of my friends. The pills work but it does make you a bit sleepy. As some might expect, a lot of the typical cruise experiences (food venues, entertainment, on board activities, etc.) are scaled down on a Windstar craft. This was not an issue for us. We found the less hectic ship atmosphere to be very appealing. Windstar is a bit on the pricey side for us so this might be a future big birthday splurge.

This cruise line has it down. You are made to feel welcome and almost like family. Staff remembers names and anticipates needs very well. The food was always wonderful and on occassion exceptional. I am not really a cruiser, but particpated in a family reunion and well.....Windstar my have converted me. The only thing I would like to see is land packages that are more athletically challenging.. Overall excellent though.

The short version is I would have to be exceptionally picky if I were to find anything wrong with this cruise line or the boat. As an avid cruiser (20+) this experience was simply magical. The two things most of us dread; embarkation and debarkation right? With Windstar it’s less than 20 minutes to get on and 20 minutes to get off. What a relief. The service from the staff is exceptional. They learn your name and what you like (from food to drink) it’s all about you. I also have to point out the size of the cabin; what a nice feeling to not feel like you’re in a shoebox for 7 days. While I did miss the balcony because all Windstar offers are French balcony suites which didn’t seem worth the fee, it was still worth it with a big window. The only area of caution I would point out is if you or any of your travel party get sea sick easily just be prepared that there is more movement on this boat then some of the larger ones. It’s not unbearable, but you’ll notice it. This was our first experience on Windstar but I can tell you it won’t be our last.

The Star Legend provided a wonderful platform to view cherry blossoms in cities along the Japan Inland Sea. We stopped at large and small cities with great opportunities to explore locales that were off the beaten path as well as famous destinations.

This cruise was scheduled to sail from Puerto Vallarta to San Diego on April 28th. We were required to pay in full when we booked over three months ago. We were informed that the cruise is now cancelled but we would not be getting our refund until the end of Feb. and that the air fare refund would take even longer. This is completely unsatisfactory.
