We took the Royal Princess to the Caribbean and would do it again. It was a larger ship but with the exception of when we were going to live performances, it never seemed congested or over-crowded. The performances were another matter entirely. You had to get there 30-45 minutes before a performance to get a seat anywhere in the venue. The entertainment was mostly very good. The ship singers/dancers were very professional and the sets were designed as well as I've seen on Broadway. There was also a featured singer one evening that performed Andrew Lloyd Webber songs and he was better than some Broadway performers I've seen. I wish they would have had a piano bar but they didn't. I liked their piano player in Crooners Bar but you could never get a seat. I did love their outdoor movies in the evening. They supposedly had a water show at 9 some evenings but every time we went, it had been cancelled due to the wind. I loved that they had a self-service laundry on the ship. We used it twice during our 10 day cruise and never had a problem getting a machine when we went. It was very reasonably priced and we appreciated that. The food on the ship could have been better. The buffet was pedestrian. The ice cream shop was great and the grill and taco bar were also good. The main dining room had okay food but we had to wait so long for open seating that we only dined there once. All the other dining had a surcharge so we didn't eat there. My biggest problem was the pool area. The deck chairs were taken early in the morning and unless it was raining, you couldn't get one. The ship said that if you left your chair unattended for more than 30 minutes, they would remove your towel so others could use the chair. I did not see this happen even once during the 10 days, even when chairs were left unattended for far longer than that. As a result, we spent much too much time indoors and out of the sun on this trip. All in all though, this was a nice ship with lots of on-board activities and events.
