We sailed on the Crystal Bach from Basil to Amsterdam. The ship and the level of service was outstanding. Everything was first class. We felt the food quality and choices were exceptional. The Crystal organization has done an incredible job of engaging an outstanding staff. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, personable, and seemed genuinely interested in providing a good experience for the guests. All requests were met with "Of course!" and a smile. The entertainment onboard was a terrific young couple, Liv and Joe. They were both talented musicians, accommodating entertainers and nice people. They provided a variety of music throughout the afternoon and evenings that had us scheduling our late day activities around the opportunities to enjoy the different musical offerings they provided both solo and together. We will definitely be looking to book another Crystal cruise knowing the quality of the staff. We will also hope to schedule a cruise where Liv and Joe will be the entertainment directors.

This was my first river cruise experience and I have done many ocean cruises over the years. This was also my first cruise with Crystal Cruises. I can only say this experience far exceeded my expectations. I was very well taken care of the entire time I was on this cruise. The deluxe cabin was fabulous with a wonderful shower and it had dual vanities. The bed, the sheets, the pillows and the duvet were out of this world comfortable and luxurious. Don't ge me started on the food. It was Michelin 10 star if there is such a rating. And if you didn't see something you wanted, in most cases they will make if for you. The waiters are incredible and they knew my name the first morning at breakfast and all through the cruise they were friendly, professional and eager to please. The ports of call were very interesting and the guides were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about the destination. Even at the end of the cruise, they provided transportation to the airport and then one of their people escorted me to the check-in desk and then took me as far as security to make sure all was ok at the airport. Crystal really outperfomed and I booked another river cruise with for Dec. 2020 on the Danube for a Christmas Market cruise. And I booked and ocean cruise on the the Symphony for 2022 from Lisbon to Rome, so that I could try their ocean experience. I'm hooked on Crystal from now on.

Sailed on the Crystal Bach from Amsterdam to Trier and back in mid October on a ten day voyage. Just like on the ocean, Crystal aims to provide outstanding service, accommodations and food. Their fleet of five new ships are designed to ocean standards and thus weigh more than the typical river cruise ship. They also are built for just over a hundred passengers (which is slightly over half of the capacity of a typical river ship). The passenger to crew ratio is 1.6 for a full ship, but since there were only 77 passengers onboard for this trip, the ratio was closer to 1:1. We were in a Deluxe suite with a panoramic balcony window. The main difference between this room and the standard deluxe suite is size (253 sf vs 237 sf) which provides space for a walk-in closet. Other amenities are comparable. Because of the limited kitchen space, food selections were very reduced compared to the ocean vessels, but the quality of entrees at dinner was up to Crystal standards. At breakfast, they served eggs or omelets cooked to order with a choice of meats. Bacon was crispy. Hot cereal and scrambled eggs were always available. The breads seemed to be store bought compared to fresh on some other lines. Another option for lighter fare was always available in the Bistro. Table service in the restaurant is top notch with waiters knowing your favorites after a couple of visits to the dining room. As on the ocean, all drinks are complimentary and each meal for lunch and dinner came with a choice of red and white wines selected by the sommelier. Other beverages are available at the bar in the Palm Court and coffee/tea (plus delicious ice cream) are available in the Bistro. Some of the dinner options were of the sous vide variety and excellent. Lunch options included a sandwich of the day and took longer to prepare than the buffet items. The burgers were heavenly but just as huge as those served on the ocean liners. I would rate the complimentary tours as typically 8/10 where Tauck typically comes in at 10. Crystal can be justifiably proud of the level of service provided on their river ships. You pay a price for this type of luxury, but it is nice to be pampered.

Our biggest mistake was choosing the Rhine River! Mostly we sailed at the end of the day and most nights so all the beautiful scenery was in the dark except for one day. That one day for about 4 hours we sailed through a UNESCO area. Quite pretty. What I didn’t like was from Cologne to Amsterdam it was VERY INDUSTRIAL . I must have counted at least 12 huge power plants and of course there were many large barges carrying coal and other cargo. Not the picturesque river cruise I was hoping. Don’t get me wrong the Chrystal Bach was a great ship. I would of been better to try another European river.

This suite on the luxury Crystal Bach should be an embarrassment for Crystal. The room is extremely small and two people cannot move around at the same time. The bathroom is ridiculous. It is so small that you have to maneuver sideways to close the door. When I tried to shave at the minuscule sink, my arm continuously banged against the door. Considering the reputation of Crystal, this suite fails that reputation. It does not meet the expectations that one would expect from Crystal.
