What travelers are saying
- Eli BSydney, Australia3,697 contributionsTo move into a brand new house is a great thing. To move into a new house designed by your son in 1950n was the most talked about residence in Sydney. the design overturned every architectural convention of suburban home design. It hovers , Frank Lloyd Wright style, over the edge of the bush with its stark, cube-like form, sent shock waves through the leafy tranquility of Sydney’s leafy upper North Shore. The house is one of the most complete and intact post World War design collection in public ownershipIIWritten July 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alison SSydney, Australia2,278 contributionsIt was a delightful day.
An early start to catch the 8.30am Ferry from Brooklyn Wharf.
A group of Bushwalking friends walked up the road from the Ferry.
Choice Point occurs when the road forks.
Whichever way you go the views are marvellous. Around the shoreline, up Riverview Road, it's a delight to circumnavigate the Island.
Refreshments at the Wharf Cafe before returning to the mainland for de-brief and lunch.
All great!
Good exercise.Written February 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We descended from the plateau at Hornsby via the beautiful Bluegum track. After that we followed the Benownie track to Thornleigh. This is part of the Great Northern Walk and the track is well marked. That said it is a genuine bushwalk, steep and slippery in parts, and walking poles can come in handy. The forests along the track are simply majestic, as are some of the views, while many of the creek crossings are picture perfect. And plenty of birdlife to experience, especially white cockatoos. All up the walk took us 3 and a half hours.Written February 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alison SSydney, Australia2,278 contributionsWonderful place to meet with friends and have a picnic lunch.
Fabulous in good clear weather.
Plenty of park benches to sit on and plenty of space around them to place other picnic chairs around to share experiences.Written October 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are facilities such as toilets and covered picnic tables and you can check out a number of vantage points that will please the photography buffs.
You can walk from the carpark straight down to the level pathway that leads around the little headland the park is on. Brooklyn baths are on one side and a pleasant little picnic area (which has more facilities) on the other. If you haven't brought your own food there are some little takeaway places in the town itself.
Wheelchair friendly if you stay on the sea level walking path. If I was inspired to go into the baths for a swim I'd probably wear an old pair of joggers - oysters about and who knows if any are on small rocks in the area. Fishing is an option from a couple of small pontoons and you could easily launch kayaks etc here.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was shocked that it was a tiny shop at the end of Westfield where the cars drive through to pick up alcohol & then theres a tab & the nice Thai restaurant. The kids brought my coffee & as we started to walk away, I had already started to take sip of Dr Coffee & WOW, this was lovely coffee, & Im sure what ever the coffee was, it was a beautiful cup of coffee! Yes, mum had to do some talking to her children to purchase another coffee as I needed another coffee after walking around Westfield, stopping & buying something but Dr’s Coffee was beautiful. When I return to see my kids & grandchild, i will be purchasing another Dr cofffee!!Written June 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jennifer CSydney, Australia313 contributionsThere are several pools suitable for every standard of swimmer. There is plenty of seating and plenty of shade so it's great for all ages and fitness levels. A bit hard to park. Another problem, the last twice we went the water slide was out of action which was very disappointing. Hope it is fixed for the start of the school holidays.Written December 12, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - YvetteSydneySydney43 contributionsThis clock is a great feature, and many people enjoy looking at it, but alas the clock does not work and to my knowledge never has. It is a nice sculpture and pleasing to the eye, and I would not like to see it taken away.Written October 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anne M2 contributionsWe confirmed with Brooklyn Ferry Service that dogs were allowed however, they had to be muzzled or in a dog container. As we didn't have a muzzle (super friendly dog), we brought his container. I'd asked if we could leave our container on the ferry as we were returning on the next circuit, however, were told it's safety couldn't be assured. So we left it at the shed on the ferry wharf next to a stack of unlocked bikes. When we returned an hour later to catch the ferry it was GONE!!! The moral of the story, don't bring your container - they provide muzzles on the ferry (wasn't told this earlier) unless you bring your own padlock and chain. Sadly, among this little island of 300 people lurks a thief!Written August 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The only other access to Jerusalem Bay is by boat, so you might get it all to yourself. It's steep but less than 2 hours return. There's some decent food in Cowan.Written March 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
