What travelers are saying
- Bidule05France1,604 contributionsCrossing the Somme bay with a naturalist guide, explaining all you want to know about birds, common and grey seals, fauna, flora and landscape, is a fantastic experience.
Don not forget to use boots to cross the Somme bay. It's muddy...
Furthermore, you have to keep in mind that crossing the Somme bay alone is very dangerous, as you can get trapped quickly by incoming tide and be stuck in the mud.Written December 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nowadays of course they simply give excellent views of the area.Written September 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The garden is beautifully planted within stone walls in the medieval town, a gorgeous setting. There were roses, herbs, irises and some stunning salvias all in full flower.Written June 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bidule05France1,604 contributionsVery fine church located in a very peaceful and quiet area at the top of a small hill. You can have a picnic near the church.
You get to this small church, using a small path, allowing yoiu to have a wonderful view on the Somme bay.Written December 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I am surprised that they have packed so much it a small area.
Whilst people might complain it is all in french. I have worked in a museum in the UK where it is all in english, but certain exhibits need no explanation, they are visual.
The great thing here also is that there are sound effects in all the areas, which is great for the children.
This is our 3rd visit and we are still noticing things we missed on previous visits.
PS. There are toilets here too, always a bonus in France.Written July 29, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - johnhouston2Knaresborough, UK5,258 contributionsThis was our first short visit to Saint Valery and, from what we saw, this promenade is the best attraction in town.
As well as a decent length of walk, you get lovely views of the sea and the wide horizons (and big skies); and the grand mansions lining the promenade lend the town a feeling of old fashioned style and class.
It’s certainly a town we hope to visit again for a couple of days.Written September 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tastefully displayed in a small traditional house of the fishing and seafaring quarter of old town of Saint Valery sur Somme.Written August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debbie V1 contributionWe went to the starting point of the hike: Cap Hornu. Vincent already waited for us there. He gave us the instructions and the booklets which he translated in English, it was clear what we needed to do.
We did the Secrets of the Medieval City of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. We had so much fun! Walking through the town, discovering all the tiny streets with it's history, the beautiful and funny houses and looking at the flowers that are everywhere. There is so much more than just the touristic bay side!
Looking for thingies, solving the riddles and puzzles. It took us about 4 hours... but we took our time (ate an ice cream on the way)! We were lucky that Vincent is very relaxed, he waited for us at Cap Hornu till we got back!
We definitely recommend it!!Written September 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A very nice hotel and SPA, very modern, classy and quiet. The location with the view on the whole bay is wonderful. We booked the external jacuzzi and truly enjoyed the 45 minutes experience that was followed by a one-hour massage in duo. Highly professional staff, very nice facilities, very clean, very well decorated. This is a place to remember and to go back to. We do recommend this amazing experience.Written November 12, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
