What travelers are saying
- Rosemary SBenfleet84 contributionsLovely old town, plenty to see and do.
Unfortunately, for us, it was ruined by the constant approaches by beggars.Written March 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As reported by others, an exhibition dominates the older cathedral - tickets cost just 6 euros and there are explanations in English. Hundreds of exhibits and displays of religious artefacts, sculptures, paintings ( incl two El Grecos). There can be long queues for the exhibition, and it might take 90 minutes and more to get around. Some of the narrative about Spanish conquests I found distasteful and archaic, but interesting nonetheless.Written October 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JAVIER RMilan, Italy23 contributionsI visited the place yesterday late afternoon. The bookstore is cosy and friendly thanks both to the books on display and the music. I spent there about 90 minutes as I was amazed and highly surprised by the variety of books at disposal. If possible, go without any hurry. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Looking forward to going back.Written August 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stephen RHaslemere, UK134 contributionsWe would have returned from Plasencia without warm memories had it not been a visit to this lovely little park. Striking peacocks and other fowl amply supplied with small ponds and sleeping quarters. Obviously a local favourite and a delight for small children.Written February 25, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Virginia PMadrid, Spain6 contributionsThis museum is not to be missed if you have a day or half day to sightsee in Plasencia. It is free of charge and unique. The old regional clothing, linens, blanklets, made and used by the Extremaduran peolpe and the religious robes and cloths on display are extrordinary. Fanstastic hand embroidery. Children will enjoy the visit, too.
I have been often and love showing it to friends.Written February 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The bars offer a variety of tapas or, if you are hungry, you can get a meal as you watch the citizens of Plasencia go by.Written November 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aussiejen55Perth, Australia59 contributionsOnce we found the entrance, we enjoyed our stroll on the ramparts. There was a member of staff but limited explanation of things...but we still enjoyed wandering round up there, even with our limited understanding of what we were seeing!Written September 17, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John FNewark-on-Trent, UK653 contributionsThe tower is a good place to access the section of the old town walls that still stand. It contains a small interpretation centre all in Spanish (fair enough). Good views of the old and new towns from the roof and walls.Written October 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terry MHamilton, Canada4,647 contributionsWe often associate such structures with the Romans but this one dates from the 16th c, taking water three miles from the Jerte Valley to a local fortress. Today just 55 arches remain over a 300 meter stretch. The bulk of the stone impresses.Written October 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
