I LOVE going to this park and walking the trails and the nature center. They've done a great job of making a great playground and gazebo w/picnic tables to hang out at. It's a great local community park and take friends with me sometimes walking the trails.

I LOVE walking around the lake and the trails there and it's always got lots of families there, bikers, hikers and those who go where the merry-go-round and picnic tables are there as well. There are several ways to get into the park and walk the trails.

This is one of the largest churches in the Diocese of Arlington, and it has a vibrant, welcoming, active community of believers. The school is fantastic and filled to capacity. There is ample parking and everything is handicap accessible.

The trail is actually in two parts that meet up at the marina. One part goes alongside the lake and continues through the forest. The trail then leaves the park and continues through the woods behind local neighborhoods, Eventually one ends up at Braddock Road near Wakefield County Park. In the other direction the trail goes by the dam and continues long through the forest to Rolling Road. Maps are on the trail!

The schoolhouse now has exhibits and an Open House the first Saturday of every month, from 10am-2pm. The structure is almost all original, and the set up of the vintage desks and the potbelly stove let you experience what it was like to attend school in the early 20th century.

There are displays which also show how the building has been used subsequent to its days as a school. During World War II, the building was used to roll bandages and later as a community center which hosted meetings, suppers, a litter buggy and turkey shoots (where you win a turkey, not shoot one). Currently, the schoolhouse hosts speakers, music and theatrical performances, and a schoolhouse 101 program for children.

The schoolhouse is a local gem and a fun diversion for history buffs, children and families. Be sure to contact them via email ahead of time unless you plan to be there during their monthly Open House. They have a website and a Facebook page where you can check out their other events and activities. Also, be sure to ask to ring the original school bell while you are there!

Need to vent your frustrations??? This is the perfect place. One can rent a private room and smash everything to pieces. we smashed glasses, dishes, computers, monitors and even a george foreman grill. Kat, the owner, provides everything that you need from smashable stuff to safety equipment. We could smash with hammers, baseball bats and even a sledge hammer. We were exhausted after 20 minutes but felt really good. Kat even provided us with cold bottles of water. This was the first time that we did this but it won't be the last.

The parish was founded in 1955 and current worship building was completed in the late 60s. In the early part of the 21st century, the parish commissioned renowned stained glass artist Liz Mears to design a number of panels near the top of the worship area in a horizontal fashion. Looking from the altar, the windows on the left depict the Old Testament and ones on the right depict the New Testament. In the Fellowship Hall just outside the worship area on a wall is a "cartoon" of the windows and scriptures that describe them. The worship area is a semi-circle and at the center is a coil wall that opens. The altar is a movable, inverted pyramid. The cross over the altar was designed and built by a parishioner with wood from the Holy Land. Many days a host of hand-made banners are hanging in the worship area. There are two small areas off the Fellowship Hall: A St. Nicholas Meditation Room with a large stained glass panel built by one of Ms. Mears students and a second small St. Christopher's Chapel with a large stained glass panel of St. C. (artist unknown). Contact the parish administrator for a tour.

The Springfield Mall is one of the last fun malls in the United States. You get to explore the fun mall as an extra birthday present including the music stores and Hagen Daz iced cream. This Dave and Busters is one of the biggest arcades left from the hey day of mall fun. The dinners are good here in that they have burgers, nachos, and fish as well as traditional birthday cake and pizza. I recommend it greatly.
