There is so much new and old machinery of all types. Can spend quite a lot of time having a look around

I pulled into Warracknabeal for a bakery stop (give that a miss) and found this Fauna Park across a short bridge with a round of birds and animals to stretch your legs and say Hello to.

The Log Lock Up was built in 1872 when the first permanent policeman came to town and was used until 1960. It will take a little effort to locate as it's not on the Main Street.... when you arrive you will notice what looks like two vacant blocks of land next to one another. BOTH of them have lock ups on them. One is a newer design and no doubt the lock up that replaced the wooden cabin after 1960.

I was told by a local that the police station was here once... on the corner block where the newer of the two lock ups is.

There isn't a lot there to look at...but you can walk through the area at any time. There are no restrictions and it is interesting to have a look at.

Constructed in 2001 to commemorate Federation these interesting sculptures add character to what is a fairly standard town. As I was viewing the Kelpie on the wheat sacks and woman passed by with a reddish coloured dog and said in a friendly manner, "this is a real Kelpie" and it was .The Kelpie was also friendly.

This is possibly the most interesting building in Warracknabeal and dates back to 1861 and is done in classic Tudor style, a little out of character with the rest of the town. Worth a look.

The Wimmera Mallee has a large number of Lutheran churches due to mass German immigration in the late 1800s. Nearly every town in region has a Lutheran church for this reason
