The Soo Locks are easy to view from the free viewing platform. Parking is metered street parking and we were able to get a sport directly across the street from the viewing platform, a quick 2 minute walk and we were there viewing the locks. The view platform is a couple stories high accessible by stairs. You'll have a good view from either platform to view the locks and if you're in luck, then you'll see a ship going through the locks while you're there. There is also a free visitors center that is worth wandering through.

What a great way to experience up close and personal a Great Lakes freighter as well as the history of the Great Lakes and the many vessels that have and continue to navigate the lakes and locks. The many exhibits included the actual crew living, sleeping, eating, and navigating rooms, a real hold, and the chance to traverse the entire length of the ship. Other exhibits show the many navigation tools, like wind and waves. Too many exhibits to mention. Finally, a great exhibit on the Edmund Fitzgerald. Great for all ages.

We stopped here for lunch ahead of our boat tour, and service was quick. Food was very good, and a nice selection. There was also a nice selection of beers. We couldn't take advantage of the rooftop area because it was drizzling out, but it took us a while to figure out the TV in the bar area was actually showing the rooftop view. I think had we known that, we would have sit closer because a lock view is great.

To me, this object looks more like “after military” one with its very rough elevation.
When you rich the top, you will be amazed by beautiful view of the city, the canal, Soo Locks, St. Marys River and Canadian shore.
I was there in October, during changing the colors, so the view was even more amazing.
Before we get to the top, we saw 15 minute movie about the history of region.
Even on the top you can learn a lot about the city, how it was growing because of the Locks.
There are two levels on the top of tower. You can stay inside or go out having view almost in all directions.
If you are in the city, don’t miss the Tower.
It’s not free, but it’s worth to pay and visit.

I'm an alum, so I always enjoy visiting the campus. In addition to all of the campus area things to see, there's also a very long and interesting history of the site as the former Fort Brady and all the history that goes with that.

This is a great new and used book store, with lots of local art and crafts . It’s fun to browse and see what they have new, and they even host authors from time to time. They can also get you any book you want if they don’t have it. If you bring in used books, they will give you 10% off a new book. The owners are very friendly and are a wealth of knowledge about the area too.

Very neat historical homes! Three of the houses were staffed by members of the Historical Society. They were a wealth of knowledge and very much enjoyed sharing all they knew. Lots of neat artifacts to look at and some to touch. Overall, the experience truly brought history to life!

Lots of artifacts from the area, and some interesting scenes. Lovely murals/paintings. A couple fun hands on activities, such as maneuvering canoes up an accurate plaque that's a map of the river. Museum is on the smaller side.

We got to see this from the water as we took the ferry cruise through the locks. They talked about when it was built and the engineering, and how many watts of power it puts out. Its amazing how many people and the area that this plant actually powers.

If you like to tour the Great Lakes you'll like taking a tour of the Valley Camp. It's an authentic iron ore boat you can visit from stem to stern. It's very easy to locate and it's right on the Soo Locks and the Soo Locks tour is right down the road. They have a nice gift shop that is located right next to the waterway. You can spend all day here, and have a picnic too.

Very nice place to visit, but only had 4 kind of wines and 3 kind of beers to try. Was told there was a fundraiser over the weekend which wiped them out. I guess coming on. Tuesday in the winter could also be the reason. The Merlot was a bit bitter in taste. The Gewurtztraminer was the white wine semi sweet. Then there were 2 fruity wines sweet. Husband liked the pale ale and not the stout, did not try the citrus one. We had the special large pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. It was good. Went at 3pm. Dinner not served til 5pm. Over all it was nice. Will check them out again during summer or fall season.
