Definitely worth a visit if you are driving past.

The site has a well organised path along with viewing platforms to see all the site and the incredible views.

Beautiful spot!! A must see. Quick and easy hike on a well kept path. There’s parking across the road. The red sand at the base of the falls gives the water an amber glow and is shallow enough to walk in.

I really recommend this road for its beauty and history. I just got back from exploring it by bike and really think bike is a great way to see the road the village of La Higuera.

From La Paz - I flew to Santa Cruz and then rented out a Trufi to get to Villa Grande (where the road starts). The trip takes about 4-5 hours by car and I recommend stopping in Semaipata for lunch and some yummy fruit that's in season.

In general, the area is removed and very remote. I would bring food and water and not expect much in terms of bells and whistles and infrastructure.

The area also can be surprisingly cold in the 'winter' months. I went in July and was underdressed and a bit uncomfortable.

La Higuera can be nice and comfortable if you stay in the nicer guest houses - make sure you reserve in advance if possible.

We we’re really surprised not only by the reception and service of this wine tour led by a chemist expert, but also by the wine taste. The Malbec Temporillo was a tasty grape combination, though the great wine you can’t miss is the Tannat Reserva-/ really great surprise to be found in Bolivia . Go for it!!

Cheap and cheerful. £18 for an hour, but so so hot we could not relax. No fan or a/c but they very very nice. A soft massage, I did ask for a deeper one but it did not happen.

We had such a good time doing two tours with Kaleidoscope. Javier, the guide, was such enjoyable company and fluent in German! He told us so much about the nature around samaipata. Highly recommend this agency!

We do not speak Spanish and were looking to have a 3 day-2 nights planned in Amboro NP and Samaipata, and I was glad to let Jacquelin organize this part of our trip in Bolivia. We were supposed to stay at Refugio Los Volcanes at first but unfortunately there were no more availibilities for our dates. Jacquelin modified our stays so we could have the same itinerary. It was easy to adapt before and during our trip. The first day, we did a couple of hikes in Amboro NP (we couldn't find any maps/info online so we were happy there was a guide with us, even if he didn't speak English he managed to give us informations about the park, flora, fauna, etc. in Spanish and spoke slowly so we could understand which was really appreciated), we went to Codo de Los Andes and Las Cuevas on our second day, and then finally El Fuerte and discovering some winenies (Landsua) on our third day. Jacquelin is very responsive through Whatsapp, this how we communicated before arriving and we even had the chance to meet her since she was our guide for El Fuerte!

When planning our dream trip to South America, we came across Bolivia Motorcycle Adventures.
Contact via email and whatsapp with Roland, the person in charge always went smoothly and clearly.
It gave us peace of mind to be able to consult with a 'local', who adapted a standard package to our wishes (custom WWW tour).
This way we had a clear planning and agreements in advance and we knew what we were getting into. (airport pick-up, transfers, overnight stays, meals, visits,…)

As 1200cc adventure riders we were a bit skeptical about the Suzuki DR, but after 1 day we were sold. It must be said, they are in perfect order and are very well maintained! At the end of the trip we realized that this bike is the perfect companion for this country and these conditions!
In terms of overnight stays, we were able to taste everything, from hotel to local B&B… but this way we also got a better view of the 'Bolivian way of life'.

Our guide, Roland, came across as a bit strict at the first meeting, but once he gets to know you, he will loosen up. He also emphasized safety a lot, but as the trip progressed we understood why and thanks to the clear agreements we never felt unsafe.

Roland and Yerson, big thanks for this unforgettable experience!
We really had a great time in Bolivia with you.

    greetings
