What travelers are saying
- Amy T5 contributionsThe view was amazing! I purchased the ticket for roundtrip ropeway on KKday and redeemed via QR code on the 4th floor of the Herb Garden. Though there was not much blooming, still had lots of things to see here and hiking options even in early March.Written March 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wireless_in_CAUnited States4,994 contributionsIf one visited during the annual Kobe Port fireworks in October then this would be an option to watch the show, albeit partially blocked, but less crowded.
We liked the layout of the shops and on the first floor there were small bridges from the street to the store entrances. That was a nice feature.
A large Ferris wheel anchored one end and views of Kobe Port, Kobe Port Tower were clear with lots of outdoor seating (both on the second and ground levels) to hang out. Cruise ships were also seen boarding and departing nearby.
Shopping included mostly Japanese brands, ie Muji, but Western, ie Banana Republic, in addition to restaurants (sit down and fast food). A Ghibli store was here as well for fans like us.
Worth a stop to visit and a short 5 minute walk from Kobe Station.Written December 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This zoo does a pretty nice job of caring for the animals. Most of the animals are elder animals. There are temperature controls in the pens and cages of animals. There is obvious effort expended in caring for them.
Lions, bears, giraffes, hippos, jaguars, penguins, elephants, tigers, koalas, and even a panda.
The panda is scheduled to be returned to China last year but due to COVID, its return to China has been delayed. The panda is very old,
The bears were playing in the pool for over 30 minutes. Never knew that a hippo's bellow can be so loud. Koalas were just so cute. The giraffe wandered over and started to munch on leaves just above our heads.
Perhaps it was because it was a weekday but the crowds were minimal. Be aware of the weather. There is no cover. Avoid if it is raining or blazing hot. As for our trip, the weather was very comfortable so this added to our enjoyment.
It took a good 4 hours to look at most of the zoo. We probably took longer because of the spectacular show the bears were doing in the pool. You should be able to do it faster.
Lots of parking on site. Probably easier to come by Hankyu train. The station is across the street from the zoo entrance

The grounds includes a row of torii gates, a small park and pond, in addition to the shrine itself. The buildings were brightly painted and showed to be well taken care of.

We visited the Starbucks at the park and sat outside Starbucks to enjoy the views while drinking coffee. It was nice walking around the park.Written January 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- drlcs1373 contributionsWe drove up at night. Budget 45 min for the drive each way - From downtown Kobe.
There is parking near the top (500Y per entry I think) and a 10 minute walk.
It’s abt 4 deg C (7deg F) colder at the top than in Kobe. So bring warm clothing in Dec.
Beautiful view- all the way past Osaka. It’s stunning but hard to take in cos u are actually quite far.Written December 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It also has interaction session with dogs and rabbits but you meed to do the reservation which is quote hard to get the slot except on the quiet day.
It is mostly indoor so it is good alternative on rainy days. It take aroud few minutes by train from JR kobe station.

A wonderful view of the port city and East to Osaka can be seen on a clear day. There's a restaurant up the top; walk halfway down the mountain visiting the glass house and catch the ropeway back down. - S. BacMantua, Italy180 contributionsI was invited to go on a very, very exciting van trip to Mount Rokko and I was very happy until I saw all those bends along the mountain and became a bit scared. The road was gruelling so I held tight but at the end we arrived and every of us was simply blown away by the powerful view on the hill. From the top you can see anything and sunsets there are magic, here is proof if you don't believe me.Written January 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RegibusTennessee84 contributionsIncredible. We went to Himeji Castle before going to Kobe. I definitely have a better appreciation for the engineering and architecture found throughout Japan. This museum is super- interactive. It’s quiet but you can touch and interact with over 50% of the exhibits. If you like puzzles, building, nature (botany of local trees), crafts, history, architecture… this museum is awesome. - CanuckJamesNishinomiya, Japan1,498 contributionsThis is an outlet mall that was actually worth going to.
The selection of stores was really decent. All the majors are here.
We went during the week, just after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. There were relatively few people there. It wasn't raining, it wasn't hot - it was perfect weather to wander around.
Food options are quite minimal. There is one food court and a restaurant area that has four restaurants only.
The prices are not as cheap as we expected.
Plenty of parking available.Written July 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
