What travelers are saying
- Zzz7100Mdina, Malta2 contributionsSpacious site and insightful museum!
We struggled for getting the right booking information. When you visit the website of the museum, three options are possible: two of them is at the location of the new memorial site (new museum).
Metro station: Yunjinlu - Exit gate 1
Booking online is only available in Chinese (and you need to install WeChat and scan the QR code). For foreigners, either you book via the Chinese version or you go directly to the ticket office with your passport.
The new museum was full the day of our visit. We then booked for the other option at the same location (not the museum). However, we discovered a number of tickets were available for foreigners at the ticket office. Even if the museum is full, have a try at the ticket office! The queue was for the ones already with a ticket. For those without ticket, go to the ticket office!
We stayed two hours in the museum and we thought we were fast! No time to visit the second part we booked for initially.
The visit was very instructive and emotional! We found the memorial site very spacious and sober with an atmosphere of peace and respect. Worth a visit! The entrance is free but I would definitely have paid for entering.Written November 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At the top of the mausoleum, you can see a spectacular view of Nanjing.Written November 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Downtown83Nanjing, China498 contributionsIt’s amazing how quiet and relaxing the walk can be after a few hundred meters from the entry point. The walk along the wall and around the lake is just beautiful.Written November 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Visit NanjingNanjing, China81 contributionsAs the only remaining imperial garden south of the Yangtze River, Xuanwu Lake is known as the “Pearl of Jinling (present-day Nanjing).” It is the best spot in Nanjing’s urban area to watch the sunset blending into the city skyline. Boating on Xuanwu Lake is another way to appreciate the lake’s beauty, like entering a picturesque scroll painting. Xuanwu Lake is also the “birds’ living room” of the city, where one can observe migrating birds and other avian wonders.Written October 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joanne HLondon, UK911 contributionsThe tomb and the park it sits in are definitely worth a visit - quintessential China in many ways. Incredible workmanship and there's an interesting exhibit about Emperor Zhu and the tomb in the tomb building itself (as well as a VR 'experience' which I skipped).
Get the 100 RMB ticket which gives you access to the Sun Yat-Sen Mausoleum and Linggu area as well. Any of the ticket desks will sell you one for cash or Alipay/WeChat on presentation of your passport if you're not Chinese.Written October 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Towards the end of autumn, the ancient ginkgo leaves gradually change from light yellow to deep gold, creating a harmonious contrast with the ancient architecture. As the ginkgo leaves flutter and fall gracefully, the landscape is adorned with a golden hue. The presence of ginkgo trees adds a profound sense of Zen to the famous temple in Nanjing.Written December 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Visit NanjingNanjing, China81 contributions“The Niushou Mountain testifies to half the history of Nanjing.” The Niushou Mountain is the foremost of the four major scenic spots in Nanjing. The paramount element of the scenic area is the Foding Palace, which not only enshrines the parietal relic of Shakyamuni Buddha but is also a sublime must-see location. Experience the pure Buddhist light in the Grand Zen View, overlook the scenery from the top of Foding Pagoda, and touch the sky in the Thousand Buddha Hall. Every view is guaranteed to be awe-inspiring.Written October 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Emma BBeijing, China10 contributionsThe mountain is beautiful and so close to the city - it is a lovely break from city sightseeing. There is a lot to do, with the cable car, botanical gardens and much more. A lovely thing to do on a hot summers day.Written July 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada2,162 contributionsThe entrance near Metro station Jimingsi is very busy with the Jiming Temple, a good access point to the top of the city wall and the lake area itself. We got in just past the gate and thought the area was fairly crowded and grabbed a boat to go around the lake.
Entry to the park area is free but it is very popular. The cost to rent a small motorized boat is 140 RMB/hour. We stuck to the less crowded west side of the lake and were able to get good views of Zifeng Tower, the ancient city wall and the top of Jiming Temple. It was a little hazy while we were in Nanjing but we thoroughly enjoyed our boat ride and would recommend it to friends.
There were quite a few inexperienced boaters so we kept our distance and watched a few rounds of bumper boats! Don't worry though they go really slow for the most part!
After we finished on the lake we climbed on to the ancient city wall which gave great views of the lake and surrounding area from the high wall.Written March 30, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
